So theres this hack that makes Pokemon Stadiums battles harder.
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3907/
Works on flashcarts, everdrive at least.

I thought it was hard enough already tbqh

This. Cool beans anyway.

Yep, R-2 is already bullshit enough.

It's hard if you only use rental Pokemon without a guide to make a super optimal team. If you know the big players in Gen 1 like Snorlax, Tauros, Chansey, Exegutor, Slowbro, Starmie, Alakazam, Gengar, Golem, then give them proper movesets and use the transfer pak, the game is way more manageable. Hell, a level 70 Mewtwo can carry you through the entirety of R1 Prime Cup, provided it doesn't get frozen at any point.

>> No.4820091

I think i'm satisfied with the difficulty. Never really got the appeal of hard-type hacks unless the base game was laughably easy.

>> No.4820098

>>4820090
I would think taking the time to plan out and raise a team of powerful pokemon is a type of high difficulty in of itself. How the fuck are you even getting Gengar, Golem and Alakazam with a single cartridge

I did that when I was a kid but now it feels dirty.
I can only use rentals for now, because my copy of yellow is kind of new-ish, sent to me by my gf. I'm gonna try and power through the game once I unlock the dodrio tower. Doduo tower is nice but it makes too little of a difference.

Good luck with rentals. You'll be highly, highly demending on RNG.

Well, I just shelled out and got a copy of Stadium 2.
Its price is likely keep increasing so I thought I'd better get it now.

Good. The one thing I absolutely despise about N64 hacks is that they almost never work on hardware. Everyone tests with garbage emulators not thinking about tomorrow and once emulation advances or lots of people do migrate to hardware the hacks are left in the dust. Super Mario World Central used to be like that and it was a special kind of hell.

The perfect dark/goldeneye hacks work on real hardware. Doesnt mean much if they are laggy as fuck(goldfinger) but hey.

If you've already watched Evangelion, you already know what they're saying.
Evangelion 64 follows the actual series very closely, all the dialogues are the same.

What actually is the best rental team?

I keep coming back to Magmar, Jynx, Dragonite, Jolteon, Starmie, and Nidoqueen, but those are mostly just pokemon I like a whole lot. I managed to get through the entire poke cup. but I cannot unlock the Dodrio tower fast enough, and I want to blaze through prime cup.

>> No.4821114

Maybe the rng of my n64 just doesn't like me, but I couldn't beat either master ball ranks on poke or prime cup. Even with my own pokemon, it was just brutal. I should try again someday.

I haven't played in ages, but looking through the list of rentals, Exeggutor looks worth trying. Sleep Powder and Psychic are both great moves. Putting stuff to sleep will help, even though it doesn't last as long in Stadium.

I remember when I was a kid, all my friends and their older brothers were trying to beat Stadium 1-2 castles. Didn't have the transfer pack so it was always figuring out the perfect rental combos.

>> No.4821669

>>4821667
I only played 1, but the elite 4 castle became easy to me, I assembled a team that would surely beat all of them, and beat it dozens of time because I wanted to get 3 of each starter and all the others too.
I ended up with a lot of hitmons.

>> No.4821701

>>4819482
There's a better way to do that
Play with rentals only

>> No.4821791

>>4820998
Psychic is probably the most OP move in the generation, so you'll want a lot of that.
Jynx - fastest sleep opener, has great STABs
Slowbro - great STABs
Exeggutor - Sleep Powder, Psychic
Rhyhorn - Rhydon's moves suck, and you'll only really be using it to counter electrics
Raichu - Better than Jolteon/Zapdos, if only for Thunder Wave
Last one is kind of a wild card, but anything you mentioned would work.

Wait, on Stadium 2 you can't transfer pokemon from one cart to another with just 1 transfer pak like on Stadium 1?
On the computer it says "you can organize pokemon and items, but not transfer new pokemon".

>> No.4823876

Friendly reminder that the AI reads your button presses.
>playing Pokemon Stadium 2 on emulator
>get infuriated from losing on some particular fight
>create savestate in the middle of battle
>swap to a pokemon with a type advantage, but opponent swaps the same turn
>load savestate
>use move that is effective against the pokemon that the AI switches to, but this time it doesn't swap
>keep loading savestate over and over, and the AI always makes the best strategic choice based on what move I made on that same turn
>I tested it out like 30 times and it happened 100% of the time

>> No.4823881

>>4823851
I am pretty sure you can store pokemon from a GB cartridge in the N64 cartridge, then switch to a different GB cartridge and transfer them into it.You probably need to have progressed in the GB game enough that you have a pokedex, and also probably have saved in a pokemon center.

Are you sure YOU'RE not the gf?

>> No.4823894

I believe you need at least 100 entries in the Pokedex in order to receive Pokemon that are not from the cartridge.

>> No.4823909

what about Red/Blue? I can't transfer any pokemon to my Blue cart (has all 151 mons). I got a used Stadium 2 cart and has many gen 1 mons on it from the old owner, but I can't transfer any of them to Blue. Of course I'm talking gen 1-only and with gen 1-only movesets.
I also just tested Gold, and it keeps getting me a "transfer pak error", I can't start the game. This is probably because my Gold cart battery is ded though. I wanted to see if it'd still let me play, even without saving, but it doesn't let me advance further than the intro screen with Oak.

i dont recall there being a strategy to this game, i own/owned it on cartridge but it's been many years. never had/transferred pokemen from other games. i loved its big clear graphics (for n64)

Nevermind, I just figured you can transfer pokemon from Stadium 2 to Blue, but you can't transfer individually as far as I can tell, only whole boxes.

Does the confused status work differently on stadium? Seems like it's more prone to get self-hurt than on GB

I was playing Blue today.
>Rival fight
>I attack first
>Health bar goes from 100% to 5%
>"Red used a potion"
I've never heard of an item being used midway through a turn. So AI decisions must happen before they attack, not when you select a move.
