That's not the second game. The presentation, driving model, career structure, and car selection are all 10/10 in GT2.

Not him but I thought presentation for GT and GT2 are very much neck and neck and going after the same aesthetic. It wasn't until GT3 that watered it down then GT4 came the white and gloss car museum wikipedia look.

GT2 menus are very uninspired compared to 1. They also ditched incredibly catchy and different little tunes for every car manufacturer when you are buying/upgrading cars. You could argue they streamlined it, but it's just shit to be honest. GT2 simply lacks atmosphere but it's overall a better game obviously.

I never played much of GT3 because it felt like a prettier GT2 and I jumped straight to 4. I enjoy it but I played most of GT4 with japanese GT1 OST in the background because GT4's music is just garbage. Huge mix of different genres that are not fitting at all in their fucked up conjoint form, nor is any of it proper car driving music. I still love GT4 because it's comfy and it's one of those games that you pop in and just zone the fuck out for an hour or two. Gameplay itself is inferior to both GT1 and 2, it feels way too on rails, there is no sense of grip or traction. Coincidentally I can't think of a game that do those two games better than GT1 and 2. There is also no sense of speed in GT4, you can be pushing 200kmph and it feels like you are going 50.

GT4 has good wheel support thanks to driving force pro support which was made for the game. It was the first wheel to offer 900 degree of rotation so it feels more like a car.
