I have never 1CC'd an arcade game, and most likely never will.

I believe that. There should be less input lag with a good keyboard. I often prefer springs over that mushy rubber stuff in gamepads.

There's literally nothing wrong with playing retro games via composite or RF on an LCD screen.

>> No.4811690 [DELETED]

>>4811665
There really isn't. The composite signaling is what makes dithering and transparency effects work. There are advantages to cancer ray tubes, but they get to much credit for things the tube has nothing to do with.

Here's Sonic 2 played on an LCD with composite video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6Z81G8hw8w&feature=youtu.be&t=308

Notice the transparent pipe effect works even on an LCD

I think once we're in the year 2020, things have to be at least 20 years to be retro, regardless of platform.

The game might be on the PS3, but it came out 8 years ago, not old enough by far.

That’s pretty ridiculous given that only inthis year would the Dreamcast have been permitted to be discussed here. Personally I think 15 years is much more reasonable.

Disc rot.

With VERY FEW exceptions, There's no such thing as a hidden gem. The mainstream popular titles are usually the only good things the system as to offer. All the unknown shit is usually unknown for good reason, and the stuff people usually consider "Hidden gems" aren't very good, or they're just worse versions of a mainstream title.

It's kind of a relative thing, certain production batches of laserdiscs, and certain production batches of DVDs, have been identified to be especially susceptible to so called disc rot, due to inferior manufacturing methods, and are likely to exhibit it after a far shorter time than normal.

Most disc media has the possibility to rot, and probably will at some point, but it tends to take a lot longer than scaremongers like to suggest. I'd be more worried over floppies, diskettes, or even tape, that stuff is vulnerable as is, and definitely don't last many decades.

That said, backing up your disc content on something far more enduring and reliable, like Solid State Drives, isn't a bad idea.

I like NTSC composite filters. Doesn't remove detail from the pixel art or add anything that isn't there.
