"console centers" were a thing here but at least in my country, Chile, started with the PS1. So 1st worlders can understand, is quite simple: you set a bunch of TVs with consoles in a room, usually with the consoles glued to a cabinet, and you went to the counter and asked for a game, and then you paid of how much time you would like to play. I usually for example rented with my friends Crash Team Racing and we paid 1.5USD per hour. When the PS2 came out usually those places had both consoles and the PS2 time was like 2USD and the PS1 time 1USD. I dont need to say all the games were pirated.
Those places lasted till the PS3 - Xbox 360 came out because those consoles were very expensive to pirate, so the only ones who could give this service needed original copies of the games.

Console centers are popular in the United States, but the games are not pirated. Every comic book store has a set up of a couple or more televisions with consoles available that you can play by the hour.

Universities have them too, but they are free.

Now that you mention it, I used to play vidya with a brown guy in my childhood, but we got separeted at teenager times. Funny guy to hang out with, haven't seen him since I was 11 or something.
He grow up and became something like the "district druglord", and killed 3 or 4 guys to get there. Lots of $$$ for like 3 years. Died 3 years ago for obvious reasons.
I am now on my college's last year. Strange how the path that you choose affects your life so drastically

those are third world icepops. They are literally water with "kool aid" of some flavor sealed in a plastic bad and then put on a refrigerator. Those things are still common in some places of how cheap they are.

>>4817418
I don't know if I'd say they're 'popular' in the US, at least not the northeast. I've personally never seen one, at comic shops or otherwise. At my college there was a huge TV in the common area and occasional game tournaments, but the console(s) were usually student supplied.

Its not a very good drawing but I don't see anything sexual in it at all. If anything its strange only one kid isn't wearing a shirt in a room with that many people and electronics. I think if I drew my friends and myself playing videogames in the 90s it wouldn't look very different from that, in quality or content.

Its just some BR drawing a fond memory, playing pirated carts on a Famiclone with a bunch of other BRs. If they drew it now it would be the same age group playing Dota 2 in a cybercafe

Third worlders fucking love bright and violently clashing colors. BRs in particular just like shit loud, everything in their country is loud. People, colors, music.

>>4820892

Because its a happy memory?

Everyone in the drawing is clearly having a good time. Its dated by the TVs and consoles and posters. While shitty plastic chairs are still commonplace the overall image is unlikely to ever happen again. From what I have seen in Brazil that same youth culture exists but now they play mobas in cyber cafes.

It isn't a masterpiece but I can appreciate the sentiment behind it. The artist probably thoguht of it when he walked past one of those cyber cafes and saw a bunch of BRs chimping at eachother screaming "FEEDAR! REPORT!".

My great grandmother painted her brothers and father hunting foxes from horseback when she was a grown adult. I still have it hanging over my fireplace and she probably made it for the same reason the artist here did. Its nice to look at something like that and remember a good time.

the picture is strictly voyeuristic and if a person was going to remember a good time the position of watching a bunch of sweaty neighborhood kids is fucking weird, there aren't even any girls there

it's simply not normal for a man to enjoy watching children without providing direction or participating in the game or having direct relation to the kids. it's not normal to crystallize that memory in such a fashion as to spend so much time actually drawing something about it

I can't tell if you are trolling, that is an extremely aggressive outlook to take on their intentions. South America is not a place that breeds subtlety, I can promise that if the BR who made that wanted it to be about banging kids it would strictly be about that.

highschool girls are the only ones I am unsure about.they may have played vidya but they never let on that they did. i dont see how growing tits alone could make them lose interest in something they enjoyed for years before. i suspect they still had a console hooked up to the bedroom tv, but i cant confirm my suspicions as i never got to see a highschool girls bedroom.

I think we had these here as well but never really saw one until my last year of high school, and by that point they were using sixth generation consoles, so they're not really part of my child hood. Then again, I'm thinking even if we did have them I wouldn't have used them because I'm too socially awkward to play in front of random kids like that.

Also, I remember Arino from GCCX running across a similar setup during the Malaysia episode, that one was a few years ago and had PS3s and PCs I think.
