DARRR! Which level be the hardest, matey?

Hmm, good question.

I suppose the question should be, which is the hardest to unlock a cheat on (ie beat within time limit). It's been ages since I played this though.

I'm trying to remember which level had me stuck for the longest. I remember with Facility I had to do a trick with the mine where I threw it and detonated it straight away, then ran through the smoke.

I also remember bunker where you break out of the prison being a pain.

Control is annoying because it is fairly long and the part where you protect Natalya is timed so it adds to the length of the level and if you mess up you have to do it all again.

My memory is foggy but I'll go with Aztec being the overall hardest. I remember desperately dashing up the ladder at the end while lasers were coming at me from all directions.

>> No.4812779

hardest to beat flat out is the aztec just because if the guards start peppering dual lasers it can really fuck you up, even through walls. the hardest cheat one is probably the facility just because of the luck factor, doakes needs to be in the right spot and everything. i hate the surface levels because they're fucking boring.

>> No.4812870

i remember jungle, control and especially aztec giving me the hardest time. jungle doesn't even have nice music to listen to when retrying over and over again

Control

Couldn't 00 Agent that one.

Cradle.

Also, why knockback in a shooter?!

Pretty much my thoughts on the game before I was even able to type them. Aztec had a lot of crap that made it a difficult level and protecting Natalya was pretty nerve wracking. Also, I remember getting lost in the Archives once, but that was more because I hadn't played in a long time and kept thinking I needed to go somewhere I didn't.

Control was the hardest.

The only cheat I couldn't unlock was caverns, 9:30 min on 00 agent.

it's a very little thing, but the level select in goldeneye looks way better than perfect dark's

>> No.4813942

Aztec. Martin Hollis and one of the other developers intentionally made the level more difficult just before release as a way of fucking with people. Rare loved to fuck with people. None of that "for the fans" bullshit.

>>4813812
I definitely prefer Goldeneye's simplicity over the sophisticated Perfect Dark.

>> No.4815309

Control was the hardest sp level and Aztec was tough if you were trying to get the cheat mode - same with faculty and archives.

No mention of the golden gun path? I assume we all used a guide then

Control. Seriously, you loose it there. Fucking Natalya sucks double o dick in that one.

Aztec is the most Doom level, though.

GoldenEye's main menu looks like a videogame menu. Perfect Dark's is supposed to look like a diegetic interface beamed into your eyeball.

It's just trial and error, with no heavy punishment if you fail. Takes a bit of time to get the correct path, but that's all.

>James, do you think you could be a bit quieter? I can't hear myself think.
The devs knew escort missions suck and they knew this part would piss you off so they threw in an extra fuck you just to laugh at you, kek.

My favorite escort mission in a retro game is the timed underwater escort mission in Metal Gear Solid 2

This but unironically.
Jungle is a pain also. Statue the first couple times but once you 'know' it there's no difficulty there.
My favorite is train. Streets also sucks.

Aztec has some real meme difficulty too.

The shitty part of Jungle is having to destroy all sentries. You can't just proceed through.
