Nice graphics and a cool soundtrack. It's stupidly simple and easy but going through it is like watching a musical.

It's interesting because it's a port rather than emulation like 90% of the Sonic compilations out there leading to some differences in how the game handles along with a totally optional although barebones 3D mode you can do special missions in giving a glimpse into what a Sonic exclusive on the Saturn may have been like.

Yeah it's an actual glorified compilation with tons of work and love put into it. It was the first time that Sonic 1 had optional spindash, too.
It also has a time trial mode which is what keeps me going back to it, trying to beat my best times. Can jump from Green Hill Zone Act 3 to Sky Sanctuary and then to Casino Night, it's just nice.
