Hey /vr/. So, I never really was into RPGs in the past but lately have been getting into some classic ones for the first time, I've played through the first two "Mana" titles and just finished pic related, which I highly enjoyed, but now I don't really know where to go from here, any recommendations? I really liked how these games weren't as brutal in terms of just throwing you into a game full of vague shit, they were fairly straight forward most of the time in terms of what you have to do next and I loved the action part of it, so any action RPGs would definitely be preferred if you know any good ones.

Just a side note, the only other games I've really played were Zelda, though Link to the Past is the only one I played to the finish.

SMRPG is always a really great one to play. IDK i'm trying out the old SMT games and they seem ok so far as well. Just look around and try things, you may find something that catches your interest.

If you're looking for something similar to Secret of Mana, then you might check out Soul Blazer and Terranigma.

Seiken Densetsu 3 is barely even an RPG, all of the stuff that can be considered an RPG staple like character building and equipment is there for fluff.

Each character has their own unique set of equipment and the game must have over 200 unique weapons and pieces of armor in total but they're all just the exact same stat upgrade coated with a layer of RPG flavor :

Look how the only thing that fluctuates between them is price to trick you into thinking they must be different.

Anyway OP maybe you would like Alundra. It gets compared to Zelda a lot in terms of design.

Try the third Mana title. It's excellent and very different!

The NES versions of Ys I and II are the worst ports. Master System and Saturn are good, but I'd remove them all and mention the TurboGrafx-16 CD port and the Windows remakes.

Mana games are mediocre af. Try some of square's other 16bit titles. FF6 and Chrono are infinitely superior games for eg.

I'll get into those eventually, but right now I'm really enjoying action RPGs, as I learn to better appreciate the other elements of RPG gameplay then I'll move onto turn based stuff, cause that kind of turn based combat was a big reason I never got into RPGs but I'm starting to get it now
