Oh fuck this just awakened some memories. I was at a Toys'R'Us on my b-day and my Mom said I could have any GBC game I wanted. Like a retard I picked out Gex 2: Enter the Gecko. That game was fucking horrible. I could have grabbed Wario Land or fucking anything else.

Not me, but my friend would microwave his PS1 discs once he 100% completed them because he felt he would never play them again. Then he would thread a string through the hole and hang them on his wall as a trophy. Some of the games I remember he microwaved are Resident Evil 3, Parasite Eve, Final Fantasy 7, Coolboarders 3, Crash Team Racing. He has some regret now, 10 years later.

I rented video games every week. Never even once rented StarFox because I thought my SNES couldn't handle the advanced graphics. (I'm serious.)

Also, I never rented Earthbound for similar reasons. Because of the big fucking box, I thought my SNES needed some kind of addon or whatnot. It's actually a good thing though, since I didn't know English at the time I would've wasted a rental most likely.

That's not odd at all. SNES and N64 boxes were made of fragile cardboard and the cartdriges themselves can be left on a shelf without trouble unlike CDs. Most people threw them away because they served no purpose and no one knew they would be worth something a couple of years later. Manuals are fun to read, have information about the game and tons of artwork, any civilised kid kept them.

I'm actually close to recovering from one of my biggest stupid mistakes from the past. Sold my entire N64 set and system (about 20 games) to some dude in the classifieds for 100$ close to ten years ago. Now I'm almost about to get all of the games back, six left but two of them are biggies. IE Indiana Jones and Pokemon Stadium 2.

I think the worst is how we treated our disks, we just threw them on the ground or a table. I went to pick up Spyro and Monkey Magic from a relative a bit ago and decided to check out how our old PS1 games looked. Scratches as far as the eye could see(She didn't touch them, in fact, no one did until I decided to rummage around), some of the jewel cases are broken, I'm not even sure if my of my Spyro games will run they're that bad.
Megaman Legends, Legends 2, and the Misadventures of Tron Bonne all have horrible scratches and the manuals are a bit ripped. I will never live that down.

Super Mario All-Stars? It just showed up in our house one day, as far as I can remember. Same with Mortal Kombat 3, though I think that one belonged to my older brother at one point.

When I got my N64, it was acquired secondhand, and had a secondhand copy on Mario Kart 64 with it. Though the N64 itself did have the box, and I kept that in my closet for who knows how long until my mom trashed it.

I'm sure I got Super Mario 64, Tony Hawk and Super Smash Bros. new, and I know I kept the box to SSB until it disappeared eventually, but I'm not sure what happened to the SM64 or Tony Hawk boxes.

The rest of my SNES games were secondhand, and when the sixth gen rolled around, I had absolutely no problem keeping a hold of the cases to those games. But all of my SNES and N64 game boxes eventually slipped out of my grasp somehow... I just don't know how.

i meant to say that some of the boxes I know I had in my possession, but they eventually all disappeared
