Why didn't the N64 have any games that looked as good as this?

Jesus. What a shit looking game. Low poly and low texture size.

Really want to see you post examples of good looking PS1 games.

Why the fuck do you want me to do the impossible? You try and post one, they don't exist.

Low poly, low texture size, uneven geometry...etc. Fuck off with the impossible tasks.

off the top of my head, R4.

Crash looks alright... but a bit samey, and I never really liked the character design or most of the art direction, but that's just me.
Anyway, console wars, duuuude.

>> No.4805257

Why must you console war?

Higher specs don't actually help much in creating a nicer looking game. You have to have actual artists who can create something that outputs nicely.

Much of the N64 library was from devs like Midway and Acclaim, who produced mediocre games, both in gameplay and visually.

The N64 really excels at cartoon style 3D. It's nearly impossible to make it render shitty PS1 quality images even if you try.

Sure you can, it's ezpz. SGI even wrote a fast, low-quality microcode that made a ton of accuracy tradeoffs for raw speed.

Crash was far more linear than any of the popular N64 games, so they could optimize it much more.

Are you seriously trying to ask why a corridor game has better textures than the open-world fare on N64?

>> No.4805851

>>4805659
So why didn't anyone reproduce that blocky, jittery PS look on the N64? It might have not been a complete failure if they had. I might think it looks shitty but if soinibois are still praising it over two decades later it must be something people want.

Console wars are responsible for this board's existence. Everyone knows it's meaningless, but it gives them something to passionately argue about, and keeps the meme alive. It's the exact same phenomenon as waifufagging and it's the reason why there are subcultures around things like Star Trek.

Console war is good for the consumer. Without it, we get shit like Intel's Netburst architecture.

Why doesn't Maserati make cars that look exactly like Feraris? That they don't doesn't prove that they can't. Different brands have different styles, that is the nature of competition.

Sony would have wanted PS1 games to look like N64 had the technology been available to them at the time.

Right, Sony's R&D had not yet discovered the elusive "blurring technology."

How is using a display style comparable to making bootleg cars? Are you brain damaged or high or brain damaged due to getting high too much?

because in the n64 games you can move freely, unlike in this game where the graphics are pre-calculated and doesn't allow you to move anywhere

honestly I find both the ps1 and the n64 held up bad graphic and gameplay wise, but n64 did better because some games are kinda fun on it as opposed to ps1 where they just pure suck
