WW has a good story but the gameplay sucks. The original is turn based grinding hell, the 3D remake has ugly Saturn polygons. Both are single player with no magic or other options to mention.
The Windows version also cut out 90% of the porn because it was originally poised for the Saturn. The didn't cut out your daughters though.

It’s been almost 20 years since I played it so I don’t remember every detail, but here’s what I can recall.
Massive spoilers for anyone who hasn’t played it, obviously:

Miho
-Original:
You have sex with Miho, during which the protagonist thinks on his feelings toward her and the hints he's seen of her scheming personality beneath her cute behavior, "even when in the midst of making love, I still wasn't sure I knew everything that was going on in her head."
-Voiced Windows:
Miho falls asleep before even taking her clothes off and the rest of the scene is cut.

Mako
-Original:
Mako (the school nurse) and the protagonist have sex in the school nurse room. This follows up from the foreshadowing in the conversation with Mako on the roof previously, where when asked what happens with her sex drive since she doesn’t have a man, she comments that it just keeps building up and maybe one day it’ll "explode like a balloon."
-Voiced Windows:
Mako and the protagonist don’t have sex. Instead, the protagonist breaks down in tears and Mako hugs and comforts him like a mother. (I forget what the topic was that caused him to cry.)
(In both versions, we find out after the scene that Miho was outside the window peeping in, so the impression Miho would get from what she sees is completely different in the two versions.)

[continued]

>> No.4795757

>>4795756
Yoshiko-sensei
-Original:
Protagonist takes Yoshiko-sensei back to your house to change clothes after saving her from the attempted-rape guy. She takes a shower and comes out without her glasses on, wearing one of protagonist’s shirts. Protagonist finds her sexy and feels guilty about feeling that way after what she just went through. (You don’t have sex with her here in any version of the game, even in the original.) Yoshiko-sense notices he’s acting strange, asks him what’s wrong, and he tells her he’s feeling bad because of being turned on by her under these circumstances. The scene ends with Yoshiko-sensei, right before she goes out the door, saying, “You weren’t the only one who felt that way.”
The entire scene was leading up to that line, which itself is the first time in the entire game that the teacher you’ve been periodically hitting on admits to actually finding you attractive.
-Voiced Windows:
The protagonist’s thoughts are the complete opposite of the original: he marvels to himself that he feels no sexual desire at all for her in spite of her state of dress. Because he’s not feeling guilty, he doesn’t act in a manner that prompts Yoshiko to ask what’s wrong, and Yoshiko’s final line in the scene doesn’t happen, making the whole scene mostly pointless. You still get a romance epilogue with Yoshiko after this, but it doesn’t follow from this scene.

[continued]

>> No.4795759

>>4795757
Satomi
-Original:
Satomi has sex with you to help forget her first lover, Kenji, after Kenji dumps her.
-Voiced Windows:
Satomi is still a virgin and never slept with Kenji. You don’t get to fully have sex with her either because it’s hurting her too much so you stop in the middle.

Mai
-Original:
Mai leaves you a letter to find the next morning after you sleep together. She signs it, “your girlfriend, Mai”
-Voiced Windows:
Mai signs it “your girlfriend-candidate, Mai”

Chiharu
-Original:
You get horny and have sex with Chiharu after eating the dinner she made. After this, the rest of Chiharu’s story revolves around her trying to make her mind whether or not to get involved with you. She’s knows you’re a playboy kid who breaks hearts and isn’t sure treating that as more than a one-night-stand is a good idea. (This “you’re too famous a womanizer to break hearts anymore” theme was one of the fun things about Doukyuusei.)
-Voiced Windows
The sex scene with Chiharu beats you over the head with the protagonist’s thoughts of “I was so in love with her. This was no mere sex act, it was the greatest possible expression of love and passion. I couldn’t even imagine the idea of having sex with her without it being ultimate true love!” (I don’t remember now if they re-wrote the remainder of her story to fit with this.)

Ako
-Original:
Ako asks some questions to try and see if you’re really in love with her or just looking for another girl to sleep with. The final question she asks is “Will you marry me?” The correct answer is “no.” She was testing to see if you were just telling her what you think she wants to hear.
-Voiced Windows:
The correct answer is “yes.” Ako is as weirdo asking someone who isn’t even out of highschool yet to get married.

[continued]

>> No.4795763

>>4795759
Hiromi
(This one I don’t remember well, but I think it went like this. Might be wrong on this one.)
-Original:
You have sex with Hiromi at her office.
-Voiced Windows:
Hiromi cries and you don’t have sex.

Misa
-Original:
After her injury, you and Misa start to have sex, but her leg is hurting her too much so you postpone it for now. You’ll have plenty of time together in the future.
-Voiced Original
The scene is supposed to be the same, but because of an early fade-to-black in the middle, it looks like you had sex with her after all instead of stopping out of concern for her injury.
(My memory is fuzzy on this one – I’ve had someone before tell me the leg thing did come up in this version, so I may have misread or something.)

Natsuko
-Original:
You seduce Natsuko after the date.
-Voided Windows
Natsuko takes initiative and puts on a “motherly” act, like “Do you want mommy’s milk, baby?”
(This one wasn’t really a problem. While I personally preferred the original, the voiced Windows version didn’t do anything that broke her personality or ruined any key scenes or lines. They even kept her ending virtually identical to the original game, unlike every other character. The only reason I mention it is, combined with the Mako scene above, it makes me wonder if their re-writer had a mother fetish.)

[continued]

>> No.4795767

>>4795763
Those are all I remember semi-well, though I recall thinking “everyone but Natsuko got screwed up in this version” so there were probably also things changed with Kurumi, Reiko, Kaori, and Yayoi. (Might have just been fade-out-in-the-middle sex scenes annoying me on some of them.)
I know they made Kurumi call you “senpai” as if she were a year younger than you, which was strange since the part of the cast that’s still in high school were all, including the protagonist, supposed to be in their last year, about to graduate and thinking about their future. There weren’t characters younger than the protagonist in Doukyuusei 1.

Almost every sex scene was either removed entirely, changed to be interrupted midway through, or faded to black in the middle instead of showing the whole thing. (Natsuko being the exception; she actually got a full beginning-to-end scene)

Every ending in the game is dramatically different from the original except for Natsuko, but that’s one thing I don’t have complaints about. Dou1’s original endings were super simple “and then we had lots of sex, like you see here” three-sentence-long affairs.

>Almost every sex scene was either removed entirely, changed to be interrupted midway through, or faded to black in the middle instead of showing the whole thing
This is similar to the treatment that Words Worth got, mentioned in >>4795190 "The Windows version also cut out 90% of the porn because it was originally poised for the Saturn"
Words Worth and the voiced Windows port of Dou1 game out the same year; I always wondered what was going on with Elf at the time.
Ironically, NEC Interchannel's port of Dou1 to the Saturn didn't cut sex from the story. Of course the explicitness was lowered, but story-wise in the Saturn version you still sleep with anyone you slept with in the original version.

I too love Yu-No and Doukyuusei. It is nostalgic playing Season of the Sakura and the Megatech games. I vaguely remember Isaku (is that the haunted/creep house game?). I remember liking the pixel art versions of games a bit more than the full 256-color+ Windows remakes of a lot of these Elf and TGL visual novel games. Know of a good place I can download some of these visual novels again?

I am getting ever closer to starting the J-WIn98SE machine, just ordered a floppy emulator in anticipation of my next paycheck next week. Isaku, Shuusaku and Kisaku are related. They are brothers. In Isaku, Isaku is the antagonist. You, some friends and a teacher are trapped in an old school building. The game never makes it an explicit plot point, but:
-She seems to have a cute, innocent, child-like manner, but
-She's close friends with Misa. Both Miho and Misa are attracted to the player-character (Miho from before the game starts, Misa gradually later) but while Misa is pained by this situation, Miho shows no hesitation.
-She stalks you (peeping in from outside the school window)
-She waits in front of your house for you to come home so she can get you to have sex with her
-If she doesn't end up with you, she instead ends up with Matarou, who was engaging in stalkerish behavior (though rather innocently -- he's spent his life studying and has no social skills) toward Miho herself, because she found his behavior charming.

It's got the basic character setup but it's mostly an original story. Protagonist forms an actual harem with Misa, Satomi, Kurumi, and Mai all knowingly together.
For some reason they made a bonus episode after the main story which pairs up Kazuya with a new girl created for the OVA. It just left me thinking "??? Who asked for this?"
It doesn't hurt the main story any but it was just odd; you'd think they'd pair Kazuya with Natsuko (since Kurumi is already with the main protag) rather than invent a new character.

>I was under the impression the Saturn versions of most games don't cut anything.
Most PC eroge ports to Saturn actually came out after Sega dropped the adults-only label as an option, which at the very least meant they couldn't show nipples anymore. (The only game on Saturn that has both actual sex scenes and bare tits that I know of is CanCan Bunny Premiere. All other red-label titles (almost all were strip mahjong) had nipples but no sex.)

Separate from the red-label thing, individual companies simply had different porting styles, and NEC Interchannel (who'd previously ported elf titles like Dragon Knight and De Ja to PC Engine) wasn't into having explicit sex scenes in their console ports.
The Saturn version sex scenes are mild enough for youtube:

I don't remember clearly, it's been so long since I watched the OVA. But I think Doukyuusei Climax starts when MC already has a harem. The girls wake him up and tell about school festival. Yui and D2 MC make a cameo in Climax. They are visiting the school festival.

There's cut text in Saturn Dou1 though I don't remember all the details. The original has a much longer interactive portion of touching, licking, fondling, kissing in most scenes and so text for a chunk of that will be missing. For EVE and DESIRE, there's "version R for PS4/Vita/PC, which has the same content as the old Saturn ports, just with updated graphics. That non-adult Saturn version of EVE is the one that was also ported to Windows and then released in English, so many people here are probably familiar with that.
There's little or no sex in those versions. (It's been a really long time since I played those versions; can't remember if there was none at all or if they kept one or two scenes. I have a recollection that at least Marina in EVE slept with that older guy in the Saturn/all-ages Windows port? DESIRE replaces the whole NTR thing with a plot based on hypnotism in the Saturn version/remake R version.)

There're also adult-rated ("version A") versions of these EVE and DESIRE remakes for PC, which I bought but haven't played yet. These should have all the sex from the original versions.

Thew new YU-NO has no adult version. As for how much sex is retained, I haven't looked into it. Considering you father children with multiple women in that game, I imagine they can't delete all of it from the story.

Not so much Sega as NEC Interchannel I think, since KID's Saturn ports (CanCan Bunny, Pia Carrot, Virtual Call) were more explicit, with detailed start-to-finish erotic novel text and orgasm scream finishes. But I've not actually played the PC versions of CanCan Bunny games so I dunno if there are difference in the touching portions.

The simple answer is "no" if you mean eroge ports. (Maybe CanCan Bunny Premiere, though it replaced chapter 3's stories and characters with new ones, so it's not quite the same game as the original.)
The value of these ports lay in the addition of voices to formerly non-voiced games, higher-color graphics, and sometimes new characters (e.g. Pia Carrot has a Saturn exclusive character). At that point in time, it could be debated whether nipples (PC version) or sexy moans (KID's Saturn ports) was more important.
Some Saturn ports later got adult-rated Windows versions with voices, though, so the voice advantage went away on those.

Machi: Unmei no Kousaten is a visual novel by Chunsoft. For consoles, it was the first of it's kind, I believe, to use real actors and setting as opposed to pre-rendered background and animations (or in some case the purple shadow). It's set in Shibuya in the mid 90s and you play as 8 different characters who paths constantly criss-cross (hench the subtitle Crosswalk of Fate) through the course of 3 days. The game uses a zapping system to progress through different characters plot lines; so for example if you are playing as character A and you are stuck with a bad end, it's possible that character D has to make a choice around the same time in order for A to be able to continue their story. The type of situations run the gamut from serious drama, action, mystery, horror, but the overall theme is humor.

The writing is pretty good, but I'd say you'd have to fluent to understand the game. It also helps to be familiar with Japanese pop culture, history and literature as there are a lot of references to these topics made throughout the game. Fortunately, for those that aren't, the game does give highlight key words, when selected, give you a brief explanation of the meaning or relevance of the world.

I've only played the Playstation version, so I don't know much about the differences between PSP and Saturn versions. I'm actually thinking of picking up the PSP version because I've been wanting to replay this game.

You can get by with basic Japanese but obviously you’re gonna spend most of your time missing out on a lot of details or with a dictabory trying to look up words you don’t know. I first played it when my Japanese wasn’t that good and I still got through the game and understood the major plot points. The humor of the game is excellent, I wish they would make more games like this. Two of the scenarios revolve around an ex-yakuza who, after being forced into a robbery, accidentally get mixed up with a local movie crew since he looks exactly like the actor in the movie, and vica versa. So you have this timid pussy actor who get sucked into the Yakuza world and a real yakuza who uses the filming to hide from the police. There is another great one where a young high school playboy keeps running into all his different girlfriends over the course of the day and his lies keep building up and up until all the girls finally confront him. On the other side though you have a pretty serious drama about a tv show writer who wants to break into real novel writing but every time he writes what he thinks is his masterpiece he blacks out, has a nightmare and wakes up with a different story written, which is a disgusting degenerate pornogrpahic novel. It’s pretty obviously that it’s heavily inspired if not directly copied from Shusaku Endo’s Scandal. Another one is, probably most people’s favorite, Keima the “gamer detective” who discovers a bomb plot across Shibuya and the perp used riddles from video games to lead Keima to the location of each bomb. Anyway it’s a pretty good game maybe you can keep it in the back burner for when you get better. Or maybe just give it a try.

Nice. The Yakusoku games written by Japanese mystery writer Akagawa Jiro are also pretty accessible with basic Japanese if you’re into the horror thing. You play as a college student that, instead of failing his class, is enlisted as a custodian of a library by his teacher. The library is deep in the woods and looks more like a haunted house. You’re constantly plagued by nightmares from one of the previous resident’s soul who haunts the library. Most of the cases that you inviestigate deal with books and the spirits attached to them and how they relate to the past of the library. Similar to many of the console VNs of the time, like Otogirisou or Kamaitachi no Yoru, after you finish the chapter once you get extra options that allow access to alternative endings.
