Anyone here has Xperia Play?

I bought it last year and got nostalgia rushes every time i played something on it.
Also, recommend some good PS1 games to play on the go...

Shame these threads never take off,i love mine, dearly only thing that would make it better would be n64 emulation, even then it's still a emulation power house! i find JRPGs are perfect for on the go,so chrono cross, try that!

>> No.475009

for retro emulation, xperia play vs psp pros and cons?

i am thinking of investing in either an android device or a psp3000 for portable emulation

This thread is not retro enough for this board.

Xperia Play can do SNES emulation properly.

how is MAME or CPS emu on xperia?

>> No.475179

I have one of these for the strict purpose of NES/SNES/Gen/PSX emulation, works like a charm.

I got it because my psps were failing on me for various reasons and I was sick and tired of having an extra handheld.

I won't upgrade my phone until a new style comes out or an upgrade of the same type like the Xplay 2

PS1 was made in 1994 i think

Anyway, i have it and honestly i wouldn't change it, i am not into that concept of 1 device for one thing.
I travel a lot by bus so it's quiet handy there

Any good sites to dl ps1 games?

I absolutely love my Xperia Play. Damn fine emulation for a lot of systems, and I have it with me everywhere I go. Considering how cheap you can get them for these days (I got mine for $60) they don't get nearly enough love around here. If mine ever goes bad I'll replace it in a heartbeat.

That isn't enough reason to talk about it. If you want to talk about emulation, direct yourself to relevant threads.

it's a pretty shitty phone, mine keeps shutting down randomly and the battery life seems to be declining. also the gps and wifi only work when they feel like it. same with the screen, but i think that's because i did a shit job replacing it when it broke.

it's lucky that it has a gamepad along with decent emulation. too bad sony hasn't released anything besides a handful of psx titles and some shitty flash games on the playstation mobile suite market + double trouble. there is a software that allows you to use the built in emulator and play other psx titles, but it sometimes sucks i.e. SOTN

it's also a shame the android market is shit. how has nobody done a decent doom port or considered making a cave story port?

What are you running on? I'm now using
NXE Light Edition and have no problems whatsoever http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649368

Nowadays I mostly use mine on the go to emulate PSX games using epsxe.

What, go download n64oid or Mupen64 AE

The latter even supports the thumbpads

retroarch for android says hi

Also I've never had any of those problems with mine, and I've had it for over a year now

As a fellow Xperia Play user, yeah these are the best when it comes to N64, but they lack compatibility and speed with some titles, even when OC's to 1.6ghz.
Though Mupen64 AE keeps being improved (slowly) over time.

>> No.478727

I considered getting one of those, but the suspicious sudden price drop and the bad feedback I read on the internet made me forget about it, ended up getting an Xperia Go instead. The only thing that made me consider getting the Play was the gamepad, is there anything similar for the Go?

I've had mine since december 2011, and I can vouch for the random shut downs, seems to happen when I close the top portion.

It works well for minecraft, and my GBA and SNES emulators run great. However sony refuses to update the android version, and very few developers include xperia gamepad support. I've been playing Delver, which is great, but my fat fingers block the screen. I also run DOSBox Turbo, which runs Daggerfall and System Shock fine, but I can't map the game pad well, so controls are hard.

Still better than hipster shit iphone

>>474405
Yeah, I have had one since launch and it is a good phone. Shame Sony didnt really support it as much as they hyped it. But it is a great emulation machine none the less. I mainly use it to text though.

>>474405
This thing is the best one can get for SNES portable emulation. It's ridiculous.

It's so well set-up control wise that it's the only thing I use it for anymore.

I would take a pic but the xperia is my only working camera

Yeah, my xperia with Camerazoom is an insane point and shoot... Bu that isn't very /vr/... Except it is what I use to document games and their conditions when I buy them. So there is that... Great camera... Not /vr/

Here's one I took. Mario RPG running at full speed with 0 frameskip, without breaking a sweat

I can't complain about any random shutting down or shit like that.
I have it for more then year and a half, and it maybe restarted 3-5 times max
