I actually agree, LA DX's colors always seemed like they clashed a lot, I prefer the monochrome scheme for it.

It's just preference man, no need to get defensive.
Objectively speaking, yes, those games were developed with monochrome in mind, except for the ones that were especially developed for GBC or with Super Game Boy capabilities, but still they were made mostly with the regular GB monochrome screen in mind.

It really depends on how you look at it, if you look at this screen >>4783476 you can see how the tiles mismatch with each other, most noticeable in the statues there, they blend nicely in monochrome with the rest of the graphics.
I won't say the colors make it look bad, and I totally understand that it's technically "better", but from an art direction standpoint, not so much.

I like them games in color more, depending on which. LADX is definitely the superior one for me and the SML2 color hack looked real sweet. I'm eagerly awaiting for that the frog for whom the bell tolls color hack.

It's kinda amazing that hacks with actual content don't get downloaded, but shit that changes a couple colors with barely anything else done gets applauded as being some kind of grand achievement.

It took me a year to write >8000 lines of ASM code and edit >100 files (~250KB of data and graphics) and you call that 'shit that changes a couple of colors', lol

I guess I'll start using tools written by someone else to change graphics and tile arrangements so I can finally make something that deserves to be applauded.
