-WHAT'S NEW?-

Different collab parks
Someone suggested we could play collab parks, but without "spots".
Comments? Suggestions? More ideas for different gameplay?

/v/+/vg/+/vr/ scenarios, rides and save files
I'm browsing archived RCT threads for scenarios, rides and save files made by fellow anons.
Like I said in an old thread, I'll put them all in their respective RARs. So, if you have any you want to share,
now would be a good time do to so.

I'm pretty sure Fungus Woods is impossible. Look at this park. This park surely has enough rides to entertain 2500 people right? Nope. I could only get up to 1.6 thousand into the park during year 4 and it seriously would not go up. You can see how desperately I was by the end (lower right corner), just placing roller coasters left and right because I could not get the guest amount to go up. Now I'm mad depressed because I liked my wooden coaster knots at the top and left of the park. What did I do wrong?

Can you tell the game to build a roller coaster underground or can you only build a custom one yourself? "intense" would mean not dull. "exciting" would mean not dull in a good way. I'm pretty sure that, say, getting knifed would be very distressing and intense and such, but you probably wouldn't describe it as "exciting". You are not "excited", you are in pain and fearing for your life. And "in pain and fearing for your life" is what high intensity rides are, while high-excitement rides are exhilarating and fun.

Benches after high intensity/nausea rides always lower the amount of puke on paths. You only need a few. "I've heard you can change the names of guests to create evil characters who wreak havoc in the park - Is this true?"
>No! There are many rumours going around that the game includes special features triggered by typing in names of terrorists or other evil characters, but these are entirely untrue. Action will be taken against any web site or publication which perpetuates these untruths and tries to link RollerCoaster Tycoon, one of the most non-violent games of modern times, with these violent and evil characters.

I can create decent mountains but I make shitty fucking lakes.

The key with mountains is starting at your highest point and creating a gradual downslope from the top. Determine what kind of mountain you're making - does it have a plateau? Are you going to build a ride along it?

Pic is an artificial dune I built in Arid Heights, which is one of my first mountains. I haven't done like any extensive work like your pic but it's easy to get started.

At this point I've failed too many times so my answer to that question is quickly becoming saving my track designs and making multiple save states so I can revert to earlier in the year.

What i've figured out with the higher guest scenarios is that you have to rally the advertising from like day one in order to make a dent in beating it. You may not have enough to appease the masses at first, but your guests will be happy enough just watching rides being built as you expand. The fact that the game provides park rating bonuses for construction makes things a lot easier for coaster builders.

It's completely unnatural for canyon walls to just jut out like that, with the surrounding area being level with the river. Use the Grand Canyon as an example. It's just like real life parks dude, some of them charge really high for entrance, food and souvenirs, but with free rides. Busch Gardens charges $85, or $129 if you go to SeaWorld too. Disney World is $94.79 per park. In RCT, that strategy just charges them a lot for entrance, has no bathrooms or ATMs so they leave quickly, but happy to keep the park rating high, which increases profit due to a high guest turnover.

>A 1981 case tried a cast member who was playing Winnie the Pooh in 1978. It was alleged that he slapped a child and caused bruising, recurring headaches and possible brain damage. The cast member testified that the girl was tugging at his costume from behind. When he turned around, he accidentally struck the girl in her ear. At one point, the cast member entered the courtroom in the Pooh costume and responded to questions while on the witness stand as Pooh would, including dancing a jig. Appearing as Pooh showed the jury that the costume's arms were too low to the ground to slap a girl of the victim's height. The jury acquitted the cast member after deliberating for 21 minutes.

>In April 2004, a 36-year-old Disney employee was arrested for allegedly fondling a 13-year-old girl and her mother while he was dressed as Tigger during a photo opportunity at the Magic Kingdom in February 2004. He was charged with one count of lewd and lascivious molestation of a child between 12 and 15 years old and one count of simple battery. The case went to trial, where the jury's deliberation lasted less than one hour. The employee was acquitted of all charges and returned to work at Disney.

It gets better:
>In September 2004, a Disney employee who had been accused for a different act previously [the one above] was suspended for allegedly shoving two Kodak employees while he was dressed as Goofy at Animal Kingdom on August 29, 2004. The two photographers believed that Goofy was a different employee who was joking around until they were relaxing backstage and saw it was not their friend. The cast member's attorney stated that the two photographers shoved back as part of routine horseplay among employees meant to entertain. The sheriff's office was considering misdemeanor charges. During the investigation, two Animal Kingdom employees came forward saying the cast member had touched their breasts. The lawyer claimed that the cast member was merely looking at their lanyards containing lapel trading pins.

Shorten the queue lines for rides where people are complaining, and/or hire entertainers zoned to those queues.

More toilets.

Are you putting bins on your paths?

Put first aid stations at the exits of rides that make people sick, as well as benches.

Read this article on pathing. Also, I recommend avoiding wide paths, they look good but cause problems.
http://www.rctmart.com/fossil/PathingSystems.html

Have you raised the prices of shops and rides beyond the default? You can easily double them for most things, coasters depend on their ratings.

Heartline twist coasters are shit, don't build them.

How big are your handiman zones? Also, double paths cause trouble for handimen as well.

Generally, on a high excitement/nausea ride, I do this. Make a winding exit path back to the main path, with a "no entry sign" so that guests don't wander on to it. Facing directly out of the ride, put a First Aid stall. Facing directly out of the exit path and onto the main path, place a souvenir stall (preferably balloons, but you can't just use balloons). The logic is that guests are more likely to keep moving forward than they are to change direction. It's not foolproof, especially considering that most puking will occur directly outside the exit, but in my experience in works pretty well. Bonus points if other ride exits use the same exit path.

I was thinking earlier, wouldn't it be cool if the game (sequel?) had a blueprint-based construction mode? You enter "coaster design" mode while in your park, and the game pauses. You can then build a blueprint coaster, but nothing actually "changes." Any land or water changes, or scenery added or removed, is a blueprint and doesn't immediately cost anything. Then, when you're done, the coaster and everything else gets built, over a timespan depending on the size of the coaster.

That way, you can't instantly build a coaster and have it running in a day by using a saved design, if you raise land for a tunnel, then realise that was shit and undo it, it doesn't cost anything because it didn't really "happen" yet.

A 'Tropico' based RCT sounds fun.
But I don't think it would take off among the casual players.

But a blueprint mode by itself sounds like a good concept.

I always wanted RCT to be fused with Zoo Tycoon. Best of both worlds.

Well there was that one RCT3 expansion. I agree though, Busch Gardens is one of my favorite parks.

just claiming a name (or smth)
by the way, i might upload the islands one if anyone would like to make it into something.
cliff can be easily removed by decreasing and then increasing the size of the map (it was intentional)

So i just write in my name & email in an empty slot on an ongoing park, and wait till someone emails me the save, thats how this works?

Yes, and when you're done you pass it to the next one in the list.

How about if the offseason months of park operation (November through Feburary) be reserved for park building, like in real life?
Never mind, the passage of time in RCT is a total mess anyway.

Indeed. Real parks also get millions of visitors a year. And real coasters cost millions of dollars. But I guess you have to strike a balance between realism and fun.

>In 1968, the last car of one of the trains lost connection to the rest of the train as it went up the final hill, causing it to roll backward. This resulted in a derailment of the train and turned sideways, resulting in 6 people being dumped to the ground ten feet below. *The cause behind this was the occupants were rocking the car and they ended up breaking the connecting plate*.

More idiots.
