What's the best way to access the Gamecube's GB player without a retail boot disc?

I've got the player like 4 months ago, but still haven't touched due to how expensive a fucking boot disc is. And I don't live in the US, which means there's no chance i can stumble upon one of these for 10 bucks in a thrift shop.

I'm aware of the Xeno modchip, but seems pretty silly to do that, since I don't plan on playing any pirated games, plus I can't solder for shit. Any suggestions, /vr/?

you can get an sd card + action replay kit and load gba interface through that ez

>>4750661

Does that require any sort of setup or jailbreak at all?

>> No.4750664

If you have a Wii, you can easily copy gba interface to a memory card

>>4750664
then how do you boot from the memory card?

Datel's SD Media Launcher or Action Replay Disk along with the the pair SD->Memory Card adapter will get you started. It should be said that the adapter that comes with it is poor quality, and maybe need a couple attempts/reseating to get it to read properly. On top of this, they will only work with non-HC/XC SD cards, so 2GB or less.

There are a couple save exploit methods that you can use to load the software, but I am unsure as to whether they work in (presumably PAL region?) and you need a softmodded Wii to actually get the files onto a regular memory card.

The software itself would be available here: https://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=2782

Considering GBI and it's various versions get updated somewhat frequently, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to burn a disc just for GBI; Something like Swiss which doesn't see much work to use as a middle man to load it off an SD would be smarter in that situation.
