I prefer the game Creatures II by the same Developers.

But this game really pushed the C64 to it's limit. Like using an actual hardware bug to scroll the whole screen at an otherwise impossible speed for the hardware. Too bad that this trick even crashed some older or otherwise misaligned C64's. It doesn't get more bare to the metal than that.

It's actually a really good example of emergent gameplay. The developers likely didn't think of this exact scenario, but they made the choice to give every NPC an inventory as standard, and do this kind of interaction via that inventory system. Plus they decided kids were killable just like all other NPCs in the game.

That stack of choices led to random consistent shit like this.
