It's basically just a point and click adventure game but instead of getting different items and trying to figure out what to do with them you learn different hamster words that you have to figure out the uses for. Day of the Tentacle...but hamsters.

It's a real non-committal, quality, game that doesn't hide anything from you and sucks you into it. You're a hamster, running around a hamster world, making hamster friends, using hamster lingo. I beat it in about 8 hours and was fucking floored at how fast the time flew by. I don't know what else to say other than it's engaging.

Also Miyamoto was a producer on it, which is random and hilarious.

If you want to actually backup the SRAM to your computer and have it forever that way, I would recommend a cart dumper / flasher like BennVenn's Joey, but it's like $50 before shipping. I have a Mega Memory Card, which is like the Monster Brain but way more expensive now for some reason, it works great.

I'm just a fan of everything hamtaro in general. So when I saw this on ebay with a starting bid of $0.01 I had to get it. A whole week went by with me winning, and within an hour before I won, I was sniped by 5-6 other guys all bidding up from $30. I think it sold for about $46 and I wasn't sure who would actually pay that much for a hamtaro game. I was sure everyone had forgotten about the series by now. >> No.4724052

It's very good.

The game starts out with the first four levels of the original Donkey Kong, but when you rescue pauline, there's a bait and switch where DK gets back up and runs off with Pauline, and then there's like 94 more levels.

But those 94 levels aren't like the original arcade game, they're a lot more puzzle focused. You need to figure out how to reach a key in each level and transport it back to the door while avoiding enemies and traps, with the occasional boss battle with DK ( and eventually DK and DK Junior )

Some of the levels are super tricky. There's also a lot of extra moves that Mario can do, which are taught to you through little cut scenes between worlds ( though I don't believe they tell you which buttons to press, but they're not hard to figure out )

Honestly, I only recently learned of this game, and it's made me extremely sad that it's not a style of game that Nintendo follows up on, instead, choosing to make more shitty lemmings knock offs with the Mario Vs Donkey Kong series.

It's a Japan-only title, FYI. Although there is a translation hack that simply inserts the NES script into the ROM.

The levels seem somewhat scaled down to accommodate the smaller screen, but view distance is still something of an issue in some stages. To get around it, the game gives you an 'astral projection' ability that lets you examine your immediate surroundings in case you might otherwise stumble into an unforeseen pitfall.

I've played the current English patch many time over without any problem, and I can't easily deduce what the new translation aims to do differently from the first. Also, he seems to have worked on it for over eight years so it might not be done anytime soon.

I would suggest just playing the one currently available, it gets the job done.

So hey it is me let us talk about the best GB games. Like I have already said Stranded Kids and Kid Dracula were already named. Whoever mentoined those knows his shit. Also respect to the person saying Donkey Kong because it is an amazing game. When I played it for the first time when I was 12 I was blown away that a full massive game awaited me after I beat the original stages. There is a GBA "remake" or whatever you want to call it...maybe even sequal for the GBA but they just ruined it. There are little Mario doll tolls coming from the Mario doll toy factory and ...what the fuck?! How the fuck could Nintendo ruin such a great game with such BS. Now lets drop some names of games you never mentoined because you are a bunch of faggots. Of course I must be trolling because you guys don't know shit and the games I am about to name must be part of my troll answer as well. Are you really that fucking stupid? Nobody mentoined those games in this thread and they are good games which means you guys suck. Anyways either you are too young or you just forgot about them but seriously they are good games so play them:
Kwirk also known as Amazing Tater
Avenging Spirit
Batman: The Animated Series
Bonk's Adventure
Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge
No DuckTales 1 or 2? Seriosly? Those games are amazing and they have a different level layout than the NES version. I also prefer Darkwing Duck on the Game Boy.
The Smurfs and Asterix 1 and 2 are both great games too just like Lucky Luke.
