My favorite Zelda game is The Ocarina of Time because the N64 gives it an ethereal look that's just not present in the others, and Majora isn't as laid back. I feel sadness when I finish OOT(besides accomplishment) because I liked going through its world so much. The feeling of winning the treasure chest guessing game without wasting a key is just so cool. Things like that add up to a rich experience.

None of the other games have matched The Forest Temple or the fishing pond. OOT can also be the perfect ending to the saga, but you can choose Majora's Mask or Wind Waker for proper sequels if you choose.

>> No.4711374

Seasons is an absolute perfection of the 2D Zelda formula and the fact it is sickeningly underrated. People call it an "LA romhack" and then proceed to defend Majora's Mask which uses 75% of OoT's assets and still manages to be a piece of shit.

Seasons blows every other game out of the fucking water. It was linear and focused, but had a ton of secrets and side content. The rings alone gave it more depth than its contemporaries. Great graphics, great music, great items, great everything. Fuck the haters.

Where are you getting these numbers? I always hear people say this shit, but Majora's Mask is FULL of unique content.

>> No.4711394

Link to the past one is accurate but I genuinely enjoyed ocarina. It's my least favorite zelda but its still good. Mask let me know the franchise was dying and windwaker let me know it was actually dead, I haven't played one since.

>> No.4711406

>>4711390
75% is hyperbolic, it may be 50%, it may be 80%, who knows. But a very large portion of the game is stripped right from OoT. Textures, character models, effects, even the majority of the items.

2D, LA or the oracles if counted together.

So nothing? I was literally saying the re-use of assets wasn't a big deal in my original post defending the oracle games. I'm just stating a fact. Also:

Yeah, no, NV is steaming pile of garbage.

I don't think the first guy ever said that was a bad thing.

DESU, I think all romhack shitters are the same people. I doubt anyone called Seasons a romhack and not MM.

>> No.4711445

These things are alwlays biased and full of shit.

It's too bad, this could be a good meme, but there isn't any of these that aren't super biased and give good reasoning for people liking the games.

Zelda 1, and they got me pegged except for the fact that I played the game as a kid. I was probably exactly 18 when I gave the game a true chance in like 2004.

LA, because you can dick around in it after a certain point and make up your own bullshit adventures. Which has literally become my metric for a good Zelda game: if I can bullshit around and just explore while playing around with shit, its great.

Kind of inaccurate.
My favorite is LA, but I love games released after it, Majora's is my second favorite, but I don't really mind OOT getting the spotlight, it deserves it.

Minish Cap is my favorite followed by Link's Awakening. Never liked any of the console releases. Tricked myself into buying Twilight Princess when it was released and only played 2 hours and then fell into the GOAT 10/10 hype for Breath of the Wild last year and played about 2 hours again.

My favourite are Link's Awakening and Minish Cap. I know Minish gets a bad rap in a lot of rorums, but I enjoyed a lot. It was one of my favourite GBA game, and has probably one of the best soundtracks of the whole series. The artstyle it's fantastic too, really charming.

I played A Link to the Past after the Game Boy Zelda, and it felt a less memorable experience to me, with less interesting characters and locations, but it's a classic with plenty of its own virtues too.

My nigga on both, but Minish Cap is underrated.
Not really a good Zelda because it deviates too far from the formula and all of the dungeons feel very short and easy to finish up. But still fun and nice to have a villain that isn't Ganon for once. Also pushed the gba graphics quite a bit.

It's very underrated. The Minish Village and the Cemetery are some of the best locations I have seen in the series. Loved the big/small mechanic too.
And again, the soundtracks doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Cloud Tops it's maybe Top 5 of the best themes from Zelda.

its exactly what it sounds like. You can equip/unequip the shield by pressing whatever slot its assigned to, meaning you can actually block projectiles without having to stand perfectly still

>> No.4712407

>>4712387
Not only that, but having to map the shield to a button forces you to make more tactical decisions, such as deciding to use the regular sword + shield for a balance of offense/defense, or the biggoron's sword which will provide more offense at the cost of your shield. I liked this system a lot, even if it was a little inconvenient at times.

>> No.4712409

>>4712387
Oh you mean that, I thought you were talking about some feature I didn't know about which lets you use a shield while also having two items on the A and B slots.

>> No.4712448

>>4712338
I think where LA wins out is from having a complete, self-contained story. The Oracles games are just two different "Save this girl from this original villain" plots, eventually tying together with a rather predictable final boss. However, in terms of visuals, dungeons, and QoL improvements in terms of the controls and menus, the Oracles games win hands down. Really wish we could have gotten that third game.

A link to the past is my favourite.

I'm playing through ocarina of time right now (at the fire temple) and I can see it's a good game but I find the whole 3D-thing ugly and frustrating. I love the dungeons, but hate the (lack of) camera control, steering link (especially over small bridges) and the graphics miss match. Hyrule field is boring.

I also love link's awakening.
The oracle games have better dungeons and bosses, but copy paste story, annoying back and forth backtracking in between dungeons to drag it out and they went way overboard with having the overworld be a giant dungeon. It never feels like an actual place.

The oracle games would be a lot better if the overworlds weren't so small, cramped, and maze-like. LA had the same problem but not to the same extent and you didn't have to mess around with seasons or time travel just to get where you needed to.

>> No.4713567

>>4713315
No, I spelt "seasons", the better of the two games. Ages is a piece of shit. It's puzzle-centric instead of combat-centric, it has a terrible color palette, the time mechanic isn't nearly as interesting or unique as the seasons mechanic, the items are worse, the overworld is worse, the characters are worse, everything is worse. Even the maku tree looks gay as fuck. It feels like an actual LA romhack, as opposed to Seasons which feels like an improved Zelda 1. Fuck Ages.

>> No.4713686

Why does vr hate MM?
It's a tossup between mm , LA, and seasons

>> No.4713707

>>4713686
Most people here don't hate MM at all. If anything, MM and LA are the two most highly dick-sucked games on this board. In fact, it's cool to shit on OoT and worship MM here.

But I hate MM. Because it's a repetitive, unfun, chatty, steaming piece of garbage which rightfully lives in the shadow of OoT. It's the Zelda game for people that don't like Zelda games. It's the de facto choice of every hipster contrarian with a Zelda tattoo who wants to feel special for liking the black sheep. A lot of people who like MM probably think Zelda 2 is a great game also, because they're retarded.

>> No.4713728

>>4712779
Link's awakening indeed had some of this compared to link to the past. But the oracle games took that idea so far it was jarring.
