I don't know if you get what I'm trying to say nothing has really changed since it was launched. Retro is used to talk about SUPER OLD SHIT, almost to the point you can't go back to them but currently you still can play GBA as fine as a Switch.

No where does it say that only things made in the 20th century will be allowed here. In a couple of years, the rules will be updated to allow GBA because it will be 20 years old, just as was done with the Dreamcast when it turned 20.

I will make 1-2 posts, and after that I will bounce. Personally, the Dreamcast should not belong here at all. My opinion on "retro" does not involve something as futuristic as that. But, as others said Allowing the N64 & the PSX opened the door to 3d systems being "retro".

At one point I put out a brief post requesting a forum for "Late-model" non-vr systems for the generations not in /vr/ and too old for /v/ to care about....Post was deleted pretty quickly. It was polite and non-spergy. I got the message.

Once a system started acting like a custom PC, it really doesn't seem retro.

No they won't. Hiro doesn't give a shit about this board and he's the only one that can update any rules. Also, Dreamcast was only banned because of an exception to the rule, in that it was part of 6th gen, but the exception was done away with because it was stupid and because Dreamcast was made before the year 2000, NOT due to it turning 20 years old (which isn't even true btw, it was just 16 years old when the "no 6th gen allowed" clause was modified to ban everything aside for the Dreamcast).

/vr/ chose to draw a line in the sand at the time of this board's inception, and that line is will not be moved easily so as to prevent this board from losing it's purpose and identity.
In all honesty /vr/ has no solid definition of where the line is between old-school and modern gaming, because there is no line. It's a nebulous change that occured over a span of decades, that happened not just through hardware revision but also game design. Limiting the definition by consoles is honestly dumb as fuck because you can still design retro games for new hardware and modern games for old hardware.
