I tried to run some ps1 gaes on this particular model(crash bash, skullmonkeys, f7, the unholy war). They all run with faulty music, and have 0.5-1 second input delay. Whereas emulating on ePSXe using a toaster, received better results, than using CTR and original hardware, aside from almost non-noticable delay. using 40' TV Any ideas what have gone wrong?

I actually did a test regarding this subject yesterday. I tested input delay on my PS1 plugged into a CRT, then the same game on my super slim PS3 plugged into a very, very low latency monitor. The PS3 did add a small amount of input delay. It was most obvious when navigating menus with audio cues. I’m still going to test my PS3 plugged into my CRT, though. I’ll post those results in this thread if it’s still up.

I know this doesn’t exactly answer your question but I can confirm that emulating via PS3 adds a small amount of delay. However I’ve never experienced audio issues.

The amount of input delay on my low latency monitor is basically negligible, so perhaps on a 40 inch television set it would be exacerbated.

Not OP here, I ran Tekken 3 disc on my PS3 yesterday on my 52" LCD TV and I didn't notice any input lag.

Actual informed fellow here. PS1 BC adds input lag, this is without the shadow of a doubt. I never encountered issues with music (perhaps you can elaborate more about that). When you try both the PS1 and PS3 on the same CRT and experience input lag on the latter there's no game modeing around, the thing's fucked. If you're playing games like Wipeout or some other stuff with the need for quick reaction, look someplace else (PS1 and PS2 are both fine), never the less it is a good way to play PS1 games with no immediate reaction requirements (unless the unit is defective).

I noticed that PS1 games on PS3 have like a grainy filter to them, even on CRT.
You're better off getting some cheapo PS2 slim or something.

>PS1 games on PS3 have like a grainy filter to them, even on CRT.

It's called dithering and all PS1 games feature some form of that (really the only way to evade dithering is to not use 3D/semi transparency or generate graphics using the CPU). It only becomes more noticeable on 480i and with high-quality inputs.

>> No.4703259

The input lag is just there and it's unavoidable, the PS3 can't output in the PS1's native resolution after all. It's shouldn't be anywhere near that bad though, just make sure you're either on a full charge of plugged in. I've only ever noticed it with rhythm games.

I have experienced music problems with PS1 since switching to a bigger hard drive though, mainly stuttering. I'll be watching the thread for answers.

And I'm saying that's probably not true, there's no reason an EU TV should cost what was probably 8x as much at the time after currency exchange.

You're quoting the top Bravia TV or something as what TVs at the time actually cost.

>> No.4703692

We only had Bravias in early 2007. The other brands were not 1080p.

>> No.4703707

>>4703692
Actually you probably wanted a 720p TV back then. It's not like seventh gen consoles were really capable of 1080p. One of the most interesting games of the generation from a technical perspective was Wipeout Pure. The game usually ran at 1080p, one of the few that could, and it always ran at 60 fps no matter what was going on on screen at the time. But in order to accomplish this, the game would monitor how much the PS3 was struggling and would dynamically lower the resolution from frame to frame as needed to maintain 60 fps. It would switch to a variety of resolutions, including 1280x1024, for whatever reason.

I've never heard of another game doing this.

Anyway, a 720p TV would display most games at native res, except for stuff that couldn't even manage 720p.

>> No.4703718

>>4703707
Almost all "720p" TVs were actually 768p, meaning nothing displayed at native res.

I live in Mexico and the only reason we had good LCDs back then was because we bought them cheaper in the US. Unfortunately, that has always been the case for pretty much any electronics, so you would save money by living on the cities close to the boarder.

OP here, all ps1 games seems to have music at 80-90% speed. It really is noticable, and makes the games just unplayable, even if it wasn't for the input lag. I am using 500 GB HD with Slim(not super slim) model. bin or cue files ftped to the console.

>using CRT
all of my CRTs gave up, so sold PSone . that is no longer an option. Using images of the games I owned. ePSXe gives the best results so far, the image, unless hand drawn like in resident evil or some 2D games, looks really crisp thanks to increasing internal resolution. The input lag is also noticably lower than in PS3 emulation.
