This game, when played correctly, takes up to 48 hours to complete. The fastest speedrun for this game is 11h 35min. It's honestly one of the longest retro games that I've ever played, and to get through the game is a very satisfying commitment. I always breathe a sigh of satisfaction when I get to disc 2.

Yes. It's got an interesting story, but the translation is kinda bad. Honestly, I like the combat system. It's like Paper Mario but without the super-blocks.

Graphically, and mechanically, it's a great game, it just suffers from a bad translation.

Yes I know that and SMT did it first and is also really good compared to most stuff posted here since it had the monster recruiting thing and different endings depending on your choices and wasn't another DQ clone but Pokemon was the first to let monsters level the fuck up for some reason and were the MC didn't fight alongside for better or worse

As far as games made according to reader polls, it turned out pretty good (when you see shit like Megaman Battle Network 4)

By the way, Enix was a publisher, not a developer. They worked closely with Tri-Ace, Chunsoft, and Quintet, though.

For retro I'm not sure, maybe Breath of Fire IV. Even with its problems I still feel its good points put it above other jrpgs.

For non retro games I would say SMT: Nocturne SMT: Strange Journey.
