Sup VR

So I just bought an NTSC NES from the US (UK here so waiting for it to come will be painful), I've got the power sorted but have a query:

Is a Sony Trinitron 14'' suitable? Which cables do I use when hooking it up for the AV? Can anyone recommend the way to get the best picture etc?

Also, any must have games?

Cheers!!!!

1. You won't get any color on a PAL TV/monitor
2. Just go to GameFAQs and look up the top 10 NES games

Why won't I get any colour? No one has mentioned this on any forum I've been on....?!

you underestimate british TV compatibility with NTSC. Most TV's i've used don't have issue with NTSC. if anything will confuse a TV, it's PAL-60 (NTSC with PAL colour signal i believe).

Does your TV accept an NTSC signal?

Anyway you just use two RCA cables (one for composite video, one for mono audio) with the NES.

The color signal on NTSC works very differently than PAL. It will still display a picture, just in B&W.

Incidentally, this only applies to CRT displays; most HDTVs will accept either signal

Wow, I've been thinking of getting an ntsc NES but that adds even more hassle. It's not like ntsc tvs grow on trees here.

which country are you in? Britland has had standards of NTSC compatibility for a LONG time.

Sorry guys i'm not that technical, can anyone tell me a good CRT tv to go for to play NTSC on then? I've bid on a Trinitron 14'' on ebay but I fear it won't work as it's quite old (15 years).

Can anyone help me out here?

Cheers

Isn't this more of a /g/ discussion?

In fact I think all CRT threads should be moved there.

A lot of PVMs can display any color format
I got one for $25 on craigslist that does PAL, SECAM, NTSC
