Hey game collectors, what are some games you wish you owned a physical copy of?

I actually bought both of these when they were new and still have them in great condition.

I regret never picking up Mega Man 5 (NES) and Mega Man IV and V (GB).

Honestly I would be happy to have all the game I sold or gave away when i was younger.

This. I could fill an American sized residential walk-in closet with games and systems if I had all my sold, lost, stolen or broken games back.

On the other hand I mostly play on emulators now, so it really doesn’t matter now if you think about it.

There's always a new console just around the corner and when you've played the games to death you don't care about selling them to trade up which is what I always did. I went from NES to SNES to PS1 to PS2 to Xbox 360 to PS4.

People of a certain age like myself (mid 30s) can get nostalgic for these older consoles that played such a big part of their youth. Emulating is fine but it doesn't capture that nosalgic feel of getting up, popping a cartridge in and playing on a real CRT. It's almost comforting the way these little things bring back memories of a simpler time. This is part of the reason why I've got back into picking up these old consoles and games I used to own. With the stresses of adult life it just feels good recapture some of the carefree good old days even if just for half an hour a couple of nights a week.

I'd kill for a copy of wild guns. I own almost all the other snes holy grails... most of which I bought for pocket change before every faggot that drinks craft beer started collecting retro. I have the money, but I refuse to pay 400$ for it.

Yeah pretty much this, I needed the money to buy modern games. If I had waited to get new games instead of having to buy day 1 I could have had my old games and new ones.

Looking back I wish I kept them particularly my N64 and Playstation 1 games. I had an amazing collection with all the boxes and manuals in perfect condition.

Some just because I wanted to buy newer games, others because I’d had them for years and wasn’t playing them. In fact I sold most of what /vr/ would consider retro games a few months before my house caught fire. So many classic (and somewhat expensive) games were saved from destruction. Pic related.

It was $35+shipping at one time. I didn't have that kind of money then. It is always 2 or more steps ahead of what I can ever afford. I am forever chasing the game (also applies to the other items).

>> No.4677648

Bucky O'Hare. I passed on a copy of it for $15 like 7 or so years ago because I thought it was "too expensive." If only I had known then how high its price would inflate I would have snatched it up instantly. That's just one of a few "should have gotten" games, although some of the others I didn't get because I didn't think they were good (Mega Man 7, Dracula X SNES).

Turtles in Time, Secret of Mana, Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma for SNES. Most of them have become ludicrously expensive and even if I'd love to own them, I refuse to pay that much for retro videogames. Might as well keep playing them on a flashcart or just emulate them.
And no, I wasn't able to pick them up back when they were cheaper because I was even poorer than I am now.
