I liked Zelda 2 more, too.
It's sad that to this day and outside places like this board it's still being considered "the bad Zelda game" (CDi memes don't count) when it's actually a very competent game.
Then again I'm super fond of stuff like Zelda 2, Faxanadu, Battle of Olympus or Fire Bam. I kinda love those old-timey sidescroller RPGs.

Ocarina is a game that's really only good for the aesthetics. It's the type of thing that even a child would not be challenged by.

Zelda 2 is absolutely better in mechanics, featuring tough, merciless, and demanding combat and tricky exploration.

i wish nintendo would make a new zelda in the zelda 2 format. strong focus on duel esque combat like in z2, preferably not piss easy. add in some items from the top down and 3d titles if they fit. maybe drop the experience point system, but keep a similar magic system

ocarina plays great on 3ds and with a decent emu/controller setup. I really don't get the meme. guess people are just ass terrible at early 3d or don't want to put the effort in to improve.

I liked it a lot too! Played it back to back with Faxanadu despite some lukewarm reactions both of them are getting nowadays. To me Zelda 2 is a surprisingly competent game with a focus on a decently designed combat system.
