The way I'd mash for parts like these is to grip the controller with my left hand and rapidly vibrate my upper right arm with my thumb over the button and index finger on the underside of the controller right behind it. Not as fast as Takahashi Meiji but I was mashing fast enough that some games would activate their anti turbo protocols.
