ITT games you got as presents/gift you never asked for and had no idea they existed. What did you think of it?

I loved the clay graphics and music. Rented it multiple times from the local video rental store.

As a kid I rented this once only because of the shiny box

My dad was into silicon and synapse games. Also interplay and the like.

He comes home from Mediaplay with a surprise for me, knowing that I play a ton of Warcraft II and pc games (the consoles were usually in their main tv room so I didn't play them as much), and he hands me Starcraft. I knew of the game SORT OF. I always thought it was going to be an addon/expansion like Beyond the Dark Portal was. I literally thought Starcraft was a WCII expac when I saw it on the internet being leaked.

Pic related, in a weird way. The leaks didn't look like this pictures. They looked totally different than anything I can find right now by googling. The picture I am linking is how I imagined the game since it was dubbed "Warcraft in space" by some people.

Similar to what I recall the leaked information looking like.

Our parents gifted us oddball games like Super Putty, Plok, Push-over, and Clay Fighter for SNES. I could never quite understand it. Maybe the bright kid-friendly colors did it, or they were cheaper, I don't know. I enjoyed them on a basic level but I could never really get into them.

I was always amused how my my mom disapproved of Clay Fighter even though she bought it for my brother and I. She claims that she had no idea it would be so violent, despite being named Clay FIGHTER.
