I don't think turn-based gameplay is necessarily the problem, it's the fact that the games force you to fight the same generic enemies over and over until you've hit a certain threshold where you can beat the boss of a dungeon and move on. Way too much filler design. Oh, and random battle initiations are annoying too.

You're right P2 was full of slow battles even trough the story may be enough to forgive it but it's really strange becsuse P1 had fast battles that could end up in seconds and were fun with all the formation thing plus wanting to see how the new persona was like,At least P1&P2 have the best negotiation system on the whole Smt franchise so that was another reason to look forward encounters in 1 mostly

Most VCRs need to have their contact heads cleaned after storage due to dust. If you open up the VCR and watch it while it tries to play a tape it should be easy to see where it's catching and clean it

SMTIvA rewards you with exp for quest amd talking to demons and the new Pokemon games give you Exp for capturing Pokemons,There are probably more but I'm more of a TES guy myself
