There were two Nightbreed games "Clive Barker's Nightbreed: The Interactive Movie" (Amiga, Atari ST and PC) and "Clive Barker's Nightbreed: The Action Game" (Amstrad CPC, C64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga, Atari ST and PC).

I only have "The interactive Movie" (the game from the webm) and it's crap, absolutely crap. It consists of just a bunch of mini games that all are extremely hard and not very fun.

No wonder, it's another game produced by Ocean, the european equivalent of LJN.
And the other Nightbreed game doesn't look that much better:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_er_scc9hA

btw. I made that webm and the other 5 above for an /vr/ thread (worst games you played) and it looks like somebody posted them here now

It's a pain to setup. You need Linux (preferably Ubuntu) and https://github.com/manuelruder/artistic-videos Make sure to follow the link to the neural-style setup page, it goes into slightly more detail (artistic-videos being a modification of that program). I remember having trouble with Ubuntu's closed-source Nvidia driver and having to install one from Nvidia's website, not sure if that will be necessary for you.

To install Torch, follow this guide: http://torch.ch/docs/getting-started.html

To make things faster, edit stylizeVideos.sh and edit the -num_iterations parameter. You can lower it to 1000,500 and the difference in quality will be hardly noticeable. Even so, it'll take several hours to render; my GTX 1060 takes an hour per second at 512x448. This is an old program by neural network standards, so it's still using the very slow Gatys algorithm for style transfer.

Ask /g/ for help as a last resort.

To be fair, this C64 game had a pretty convincing water effect for the time and was even quite fluid in contrast to the earliest experiments with 3D games (well Sailing wasn't one of those anyway). The compression just doesn't look good with those scenes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4haPmBqvLQ

But beside that, the game was quite boring as one would expect from a Sailing game. But back in the day I played it anyway, since there wasn't much else to play for me, since this in fact was my first game that I bought (of course on tape) and the C64 my first computer too.

Before that I only played some clones of popular western games on some east german computer, that I never owned and only used in school (KC85).

Since I made that comment, the developers have put out a faster version. Mario has a lot of different jumps in Mario 64 coupled with an analogic acceleration which made a lot of glitches possibilities so it pushed people to tried them everywhere.
You don't have that in modern AAA games. The jumps are mostly scripted/contextual like in the Asscreed or Uncharted games.

From all those early 3D (vector graphics) games this is by far one of the fastest, since usually the older 3D titles on the 16-bit (and 8-bit machines as well of course) were incredible slow. Usually when posting videos of those (like Hunter, The Sentinel, etc.) I sped up the video a bit. But this wasn't necessary here.

And I just tested the game with the default Amiga 500 setting on FS-UAE (on a Mac) and it worked just fine. I don't have much problems with Amiga emulation, but after all I was using a real Amiga 1200 way until 2008 anyway, so I know the quirks (like what ROM image for the system you need for the different Amiga models).

With the above videos I partially doubled (or even quadrupled) the playback speed, since it was just too slow to squeeze more gameplay into 2 minutes. Especially "The Sentinel" was very slow on the 8-bit computers (not so much on the 16-bit machines), but nevertheless I played it for hours back in the day on my C64 (I have the tape version). The Sequel "Sentinel Returns" (PS1) didn't suffer from a slow speed and is also very good, especially the Soundtrack by John Carpenter.

Not the guy posting the webm, but for him to play that section as aggressively/quickly as he did while taking that little damage he'd have to do the shit you see in that webm. Even the parts where he crouches and shoots enemies upwards allows him to manipulate enemy positioning on Hard+ skill in a way he wouldn't be able to do otherwise. It could potentially stop him from being cornered for instance. If you can jump over those bars faster by using double jump why not? Made these for the "What was behind that door" thread last week. Might as well post them here. SMB2, glitched out due to trying to warp from 1-1 to Wart's room directly from a door. The result was the game dropping me off towards the end of 5-2, only calling it 1-glitch, and then 1-E when I enter the door to Birdo. On beating it, instead of the usual level end routine, it just dropped me off at the beginning of 5-3, calling it 1-F. More on that in a minute.

This webm is the result of changing the door in 5-3 to point to Wart's room in addition to the first glitched door, which had interesting results for 5-3's underground area.

>> No.4638504

>>4638497
And this is the result of just the initial door glitch, being the vertical area just through the door that sent me back to 1-glitch in the previous webm. You'll notice walls are missing. The floor is gone too. I lost a life just entering by falling to my death. Reaching Birdo was somewhat tricky. Then I get there, and the glitch caused a wall I can't get by. I tried editing the rom again to add one of the flying carpet guys near the boss to get around that, but it broke the glitch, causing the game to dump me back into 5-3 proper after beating Birdo in 1-E.

Awesome Amiga game with excellent usage of it's hardware.

But back than the game was a bit to hard for my taste (adaptable AI and cheap bosses like the one in the other video). And also it was lacking in terms of moves, the move set per fighter was very limited. Also for whatever reason Terramarque (now Housemarque) opted for an at the time very unusual family friendly setting which IMO didn't worked well with the potential audience back than.

That's only on the street car version. Brake too fast and people are gonna get pissed. There's also this but it's happened to me once after god knows how many hours of gameplay.

That train seems way more interesting than the other. But now I'm wondering how the official controls for these games look like.

Street car version is one of the easiest. Even though you also have to control the door operations.
Anyway, you'll either like the series or hate it. If you like it you'll eventually make to that version and others.

I kind of love the visuals and I don't exactly dislike trains either. They're comfy. I dunno, I think I'm going to like it.

Not really, the hardest part isn't even related to knowing Japanese, unlike an anon stated previously. It's keeping an eye on everything at the same time and being able to arrive in time.

The hardest part is just figuring out the RULES. If you think it's a sim and don't understand the point system then it's going to be confusing as fuck.
