Pikmin 2
Ikaruga
Twilight Princess
LoZ collector edition promotional disc
Beyond Good and Evil
Metal Gear Solid
Jedi Outcast
Eternal Darkness
Killer 7
PN 03
Component Cables

I have collected about 200+ games, but I think these seem to be the rarest ones out in the wild that I have.

If talking strictly /vr/-related, it's about to be Mars Matrix after it comes in through the mail.

If talking any game at all, US-region Solatorobo complete with somewhat dog-eared first-run case and music CD.

I'm boring and usually don't spend a whole lot on games. Mars Matrix was the most I've ever spent on a non-special edition game, and the most I've ever spent on a single game at all was $100 for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 SE.

I might decide to splurge a little in the future and try to hunt down something like Bulk Slash, but once the price of a singular game starts straying north of $70, my will to buy drops pretty quickly. Over $100 on a single game at retail would be completely uncharted territory for me.

I suspected as much. If it was a clone it would indeed be one of a kind. The question is if it's a legit ATI GC. Anyone can put shit on a console and someone at ATI could put ATI shit on a console. Of my /vr/ related stuff I have plenty of things that are worth a lot. Common and expensive like Earthbound or Just expensive like Final Fantasy NIB.

Anyway as for most rare and expensive, that pales all of that easy to ebay shit in comparison. It isn't /vr/. In 2011 Blizzard did an auction for server blades. There were 1-4 for each Server you could bid on, it came with a nameplate and the server underneath, all for charity. I have one of the singular ones that was never set to auction. It doesn't have the plate either because it was used for queuing people to the server, not an actual server. Probably worth $10,000 if not more considering the other plated blades go for 1500-10,000 based on what server it was.

Picture isn't mine. Mine is in a storage location where I keep my rare things to sell when I am older.

Forgot to say, i also own a complete Alfred Chicken on the NES and sweet jesus, its an OK port but why $100 cart alone, also there's 2 CiB for $500+ and one of em its a VGA cancer.

Got mine for fricking 80 mexican pesos before the dollar price got fucked over here, (6 bucks around 2011).

I own a few more titles but those i took photos are the ones i consider legit in rarity, others like Gargoyles Quest 2 and Shatterhand are not even uncommon, but the market got destroyed forever, even here, i havent set foot on a flea market for a long time, and there's nothing left, i am not kidding.

In a weird sense, i actually felt kinda sad considering i found some of this titles where i would have never guessed, Kickmaster and Panic per example were total steals.

Should we post stories about our finds?

Once I was reading Tips and Tricks collector's corner. There was a bit about the Gold GB Camera. It was Nintendo Power exclusive and pretty rare. It has LoZ OoT stickers that aren't in the regular version.
I looked up at Gamestop's GB loose cart case and saw it right in front of me. Looked down at the page and back up. I bought it instantly for $8.
Another time, went into Gamestop and they had a stack of Kiosk disks in the GameCube kiosk. I asked if I could have them and they just gave them to me. One has the Berry Glitch fix for Pokemon R/S.
Last story. Once Circuit City priced all their Pokemon Coliseum Preorder disks for 1 cent and had a stack of them out. I bought them all (like 10 of them). Nowadays they go for a crazy amount online. Same thing happened at TRU with GB Printer Paper (but that was 10 cents).

A quick search on eBay has turned up 2 complete copies of Battletoads in Ragnarok’s World, one for about $85 (including shipping) OBO and another for over $150, both seemed to be in fair condition though the $85 one’s box is in rougher condition. Certainly respectable and probably not on too many youtubers’ radars which could suggest genuine rarity driving up the price (though a LOT of it is carried by the disposable packaging remaining intact).

Two of the prototypes I have. Tiny Toon Adventures: Wacky Sports Challenge (it had a different name at this point) and Cybernator. Based on the label, TTA was a cart used to demo an unfinished version of the game at ECTS (European Computer Trade Show), or at least holds the same build which was shown at ECTS. Cybernator even has a return label on the back. Based on a hex compare, it differs from the other dumped prototype of the US game. That being said, if anything in the gameplay predates the final Japanese version at all, it could be only very slightly, given the release date and the prototype's date. It is perhaps superior to the US retail game in that it preserves the Japanese version's character portraits.

The majority of PDS’ story is told through cutscenes that can be YouTubed, the core of the gameplay experience requires no moon knowledge at all to enjoy.

I get that it’s obviously not as good an experience as playing a localized version, but when that experience is twenty times more expensive, making compromises to enjoy playing the real deal at all is acceptable.

Alternatively, if the Saturn anon doesn’t care that much about the game, he could just burn it or play through mednafen.

It was rare and I didn't have an NES back then, only a SNES.

I looked for it forever. By the time it was available to buy on Ebay there were so many other games/things that were cheaper that I wanted more.

I've pondered getting a box for this game, but its not really all that valuable. I think the value is in the collection. I had a HUGE collection of n64 games and a few years back I gifted it to my sister....It had every one of the 40 top n64 games + black system and all accessories. She really made out. Everyone in my family has an N64, and uses it daily....Including mom.

Huge, but not varied.
- By far you will face people playing CS1.6 / LoL / Overwatch all the time, that's in every fucking "game convention" there are those tournaments.
- The retro scene is VERY small. I only managed to acquaint with one retro group who now runs retro museum in one of bigger cities.

Hey, I've got one of those, too. This is the first time I've seen one posted. I really wonder how many of these are left. Mine came right from the Nintendo Power Catalog that originally sold it for $15 (was originally 30, but they were on clearance. Really weird that only 2000 of these lasted long enough to require a clearance). There wasn't even a box with it, it just came in a plastic back with a generic manual.

I saw one go up on ebay a little while back for $999, and that was the first time in years that I've seen one. The auction was ended by the seller without a sale.

Anything but. Mom is a widowed drunk, I am in recovery and my sister and brother float somewhere in between. However, when we get together we curse like sailors and play MK64. My mother is absurd. Its like this, you don't expect a 64 year old woman to make the shortcut jump in koopa beach every time without a mushroom boost....but she does, while drinking irish coffee smoking camel 99s and "motherfuckin" you the whole time. It is surreal. Come to find out that decade I was preparing my kids for some degree of independence, she was playing daily and keeping up the practice.

Random picture of some of my "rares". CIB PSX with inserts and brochures. Missing the demo discs. Everything else is cherry. I don't think they are worth much, but its a neat little set.

A fair bit rather than the regular one, but it’s hard to judge scarcity with a game as well known as it. That said, hold onto it: It’s a common phenomenon for gold cartridge games to break easily, and that’s because the gold plastic the cartridge is made out of is known to become VERY brittle which means as time goes on these games may actually become quite hard to find in good condition even loose.

I've only finished 3 JRPGs in my life: Chrono Trigger, Grandia II and PDS, and Panzer Dragoon is the only one of those I've finished twice. The truth is I only bought it because I already liked the franchise, there weren't many new releases and the magazine I used to read at the time hyped it up. It was a gamble since I didn't like RPGs, but it paid off. Of course you'd be a moron to pay full price for such an old game today, let alone hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

Around 80-90. That's considering everything you have. 150 is godawful. No wonder you aren't selling it.
