This game was unironically the third best kart racer of the fifth generation, though (DKR and CTR)

I am inclined to believe you never played Lego Racers, as it was a real gem of kart racers

Are there any kind of boxes like this one? It was similiar to big Lego boxes where you could open it up like a book and see the insides, only here to be greeted by a introduction of the racers.

So, this thread is about Pokemon Mini?

>people rushing to the defense of this game
Look, you might have a personal attachment to the game, since it's a part of your childhood and when you were a child you didn't know any better, but that doesn't make it not shovelware, nor does it mean it's not a bad game.
I'm just being real with you because /vr/ seems to have a nostalgia goggles problem. This thread is one of the many examples.

Shovelware =/= licensed game

No 90s kids speak fondly about Superman 64 or Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue.

Look man, if you liked Lego Racers just come out and say so. You're allowed to like shitty games. There's nothing wrong with that.

Never even played Lego Racers, but "shovelware" is not a synonym for "shitty." A shovelware game is a game that is broken and entirely unplayable. I doubt any Lego game is shovelware, all the ones I've seen are mediocre at worst.

>> No.4602043

>>4599095
You don't REALLY know what 'shovelware' IS, do you? You don't actually know what a bad game is. You think 'sort-of alright, 7/10 licensed game' is shovelware, which is just a bit sad, really.

You may now ask why I have the authority to tell you this. It's because I have a channel, on YouTube and Twitch, where I just play shovelware and bad videogames, for the entertainment of other people. The shit I have seen would make your head spin.

If you want real retro shovelware, you want The Bible Game on GBA, or The Crow: City of Angels on PSX, or Crazy Frog Racer on PS2. Not 'actually competent, enjoyable games with a license', mate.

Ah, the age old technique of fighting bait with bait. I like it.

>> No.4602118

I've never played the game either but I also feel confident it's very likely a good game and OP is just a turd who thought he could label it as shovelware because it's lego and doesn't get namedropped.

>> No.4602123

>>4601432
The modern LEGO games aren't shovelware, and I do like them but holy fucking hell, do they ever crash at the drop of a hat or fail to load scripted boss sequences properly.

>> No.4602147

LEGO Racers is good but the problem is that the warp power up is the only one worth aiming for. Oh sure, it can sometimes fuck you up if you don't use it with good timing, as you can crash into a wall or otherwise get rudely stopped, but the only AI that uses it fairly consistently is Basil the Batlord/Gypsy Moth/Rocket Racer, and that's too far into the game.

>> No.4602430

It's not shovelware. The developer had to write the engine to be able to race with custom built lego carts. On a n64 that is a lot to ask and it is a nice technological feat.
