I know this is just poor bait but this boxart is great. N64 games in general had amazing box art. Very colorful, vibrant, and I loved the use of that charmingly cheesy 90s CGI. You want to see shitty box art? Go look at what they're pumping out today, mostly one dude standing against some "epic" background with a piss yellow filter over everything, or muh minimalistic logo against a solid black background. I mean seriously, get real faggot.

Too easy to the point playing it isn't fun, i know Mario games aren't extremely difficult, but 3D Land was Kirby-tier of easy.
Floaty and slow as hell.
Most of the game is reused gimmicks from Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, but watered down
Getting 100% is extremely annoying to do (beat game, get all the coins, beat the game as Luigi and get all golden flag as both characters).
Extremely Bland presentation, even for a Mario game.
The only time i had fun with the game was beating best times and doing a no leaf run.

I loved the six-color scheme of red, blue, green, yellow, black, and gray which could be found within all aspects of the system. This included the controllers, the colored cartridges, and of course the boxes themselves. It was damn near magical.

Odyssey is very good. It does little mysteries and hidden things better than 64, but doesn't offer as good of a "please deal with this intimidating challenge" feeling as the later levels in 64.

Funny you say that, a lot of people say that Galaxy 2 is better than Galaxy 1 in every way (hell, G2 is considered one of the best games ever made).
I dunno, I find Galaxy 1 made a bigger impact on me in comparison to galaxy 2.

First vidya gaem I ever played. Fuck is it ever fantastic. I 100%'d it recently and now I'm getting into 16 star running. My only gripe is the over-use of "Slide" in the soundtrack. Other than that, nearly perfect game.

Why did the mod nuke half this thread? There was a discussion about comparing 64 and Odyssey’s mechanics. I don’t see the problem in comparing retro games to modern games as long as it’s about comparison and not just talking about the modern games.

Replayed it recently. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing with the exception of getting 119 stars only to find out you have to do the Princess Peach slide again in under 21 seconds. It really is amazing how few games feel as good as this.
