Suggestions? I like the variety of gameplay elements but wouldn't mind a different plot/theme.

I dunno, I just played to the second one, so I can't compare it to the other episodes. I do like princess maker 1 visuals and musics, especially the MSX2 version of the soundtrack (the PC-98 one, despite using a better soundchip, is kinda meh, go figure). The super famicom one looks good too.

Wonder Projecr J2.
The first Wonder Project on SNES you raise a robot boy (similar to Pinocchio), but on WP J2 you raise a girl, Josette.

I forgot about wonder project! Played the first one and liked it a lot from what I remember.

Anything in the spirit of in these games without necessarily being a raising sim is also welcome.

The second one.

The other sequels might be more complex mechanics-wise, but none of them have managed to capture the charm of the first two imo.

You already know about Wonder Project J2, but how about if you want to train the girl to be a fighter. Her regimen, improves her stats to be better at fights.

You CAN waifu your daughter in this game, though.
You can also literally raise her into a whore, which is what I did most of the time.

>> No.4601468

>>4600168
You can, but that's one particular ending among all the other ones that isn't the easiest to get either. And if you do the slightliest mistake while trying to get that ending she'll go for the cube.

>> No.4601529

>>4601468
It's not THAT hard, you mainly just need to max the hidden "love for father" stat. A good way of doing that is overworking her until she gets stressed enough to start misbehaving (but not so much that she gets sick), then you can scold her once a month, which will both increase her love for you and decrease her stress by the same amount as the love stat. So you can keep scolding her, which makes her love you more, which makes her stress go down more with each scolding, which means you don't need to give her any breaks, which means you make more money and she stays just stressed enough so you can keep scolding her and keep the cycle going. It's a really efficient way to go about things if you can maintain the balance.
Once her love for you is maxed out you just have to avoid triggering any of the other suitors or any endings that override relationships, and you should be able to marry her yourself. And no you don't need to get the housewife ending to marry her as some people say, I've gotten to marry her with hero and magician endings too.
I found most of this by playing the game over and over again back in the day, but I know there are Japanese sites that tell you exactly what numbers you need for any kind of ending you want.

Don't die thread, this is one of the main games I am building a J-Win98 machine for, or wanting a sweet soundblaster and MT-32 for DOS on my 486DX4.

>>4603157
On the Dreamcast version or the PC-98 version?

>>4605297
I am very fond of the old pixel art and how I remember the SoundBlaster made the game's music in DOS. I still want to upgrade my 486DX4-100's sound card from a Virba16 to maybe an AWE32. However, I really wish to hear how it sounds through a Roland MT-32. It is one of the games I am hoping with a J-Win98SE build to play around with DOS/V for. The ways I am going about playing the game is a really expensive way to do it, but I am trying to replicate my memories of playing the game. Today, I think for anyone else, DOSBOX is likely the way to go, if you are like me and prefer the pixel art of old. However they did release a newer version for 256-color and a higher resolution with Refine for early Windows, but somewhat recently localized for modern Steam.

>>4605325
I did find it funny the "un-dress" adds to the refinement stat. Judges in the dance contest sure appreciate that. Then again, it is inappropriate behavior these days with the metoo or whatever. So the game is a product of its time, and not suitable for modern audiences.

It sounds good with an MT-32, but not as good as with a soundblaster.
Also, good luck getting sound from your MT-32 with a 486DX4, you'll need to tweak the CPU into getting to work at the speed of a 386 or something (it doesn't work on my 486DX2 DOS machine without slowing it down).

Princess maker is a retarded fuxking game once u realize what it requires to get the good endings.

Thanks! I had no idea I'd run into such issues with a MT-32, at this time it is a faraway dream as they have grown expensive, but I always wondered about them since they were in so many config options in the old DOS games I used to play.

It is. On a old Princess Maker 2 thread, someone asked what was inside so I took that pic. It is on the same table as the Mercurious Pretty and Wonder Project J2 images above. Here, I took a new pic here with 5, but coupled with the Justice Gakuen games where you can make your own character going through their school days (just to make sure it is /vr/).

How much? Bought mine for 25€ a bunch of years ealier, and an SC-55 for 30€, shipping included, a month ago, but I've read that US prices for MT-32s are more akin to the price I paid for an SC-88pro.

Another example of how finnicky MIDI playback is on PM2 -- I tried to play using the GM option in the DOSINST configuration menu, and while it did play the intro tune, it stopped playing anything after the fade out, even after restarting the game several times. It's a good thing the FM soundtrack is great, 'cause getting MIDI to work is a hassle.
