I heard a murmur that a reason why the Dreamcast shit the bed was because it was easy to burn ISOs onto discs and play pirated games. Is this the case and if so, would I be better off using emulsion software rather than using a physical Dreamcast?

>> No.4577601

Dreamcast was already on its way out by the time self-booting rips became commonplace. Poor decisions by upper management and the Playstation 2 killed the Dreamcast.

emulation of DC software is still a bit off. But Marvel vs Capcom 2 works so it's all good.

No it wasn't. It was released in June of 2000. There were selfbooting rips by the end of summer.

im been dicking around with demul the past few weeks and the emulation seems a lot better than it used to.
its even working with seaman using my pc mic and unreal tournament has it's mouse/keyboard support.

if you guys know any problematic dreamcast games to emulate, please let me know. they might work without issues now

Sure did. In so many ways. I'm certain that emulsion is the best solution for you.

Funny because they say the opposite about the psx, that it became more popular thanks to piracy.

Absolutely. DC rips have downsampled audio/video to make them fit on standard CDR;s and they sound like utter SHIT

It didn't help, but ultimately it didn't have enough decent non-arcade games to gain traction before people started getting hyped for PS2 and GC.

that's dumb
most pirated stuff are the best selling
2600 had a shit ton of bootlegs and clones
nes had a shit ton of bootlegs and clones
snes had a shit ton of bootlegs
ps1 and ps2 are probably the most pirated consoles of all time

This. "The Dreamcast died due to piracy" is just a mindless excuse used by Sega fans.

It's exactly in the same boat as "Saturn died because Bernie Stolar didn't allow the import of Catgirl Dating Sim #1531"
