6th gen was the transitional generation between that era and the modern one, so it's hard to say what its exact place is. Since the arguments for including and excluding it are about equally strong in my view, I vote to exclude it, if for no other reason than the fact that 6th gen threads would overwhelm the board, given the popularity of 6th gen and the huge number of games released for it. You could never have things like the PC-98 thread staying up for days on end if 6th gen were allowed here. It would just make the board worse and turn it into something that's hard to distinguish from /v/.

The fact DC is accepted here as fifth gen is only a testament of how retarded sega was.
While counted as a sixth gen, it was advertised as direct competitor of the fifth gen, while in reality its a bridge between fifth and sixth gen.
Way more advanced than fifth but a bit weaker than sixth, people who looked for a fifth gen console went for cheaper consoles with bigger libraries while people who looked for 6th gen went with ps2.

I think 6th gen is safe from the mainstream online appeal. Even if it wasn't, Dreamcast had lots of online capabilities and it's allowed here.

Also, as much as I enjoy the constant Doom threads and build engine threads as their retro appeal is that content is still released for them but how many times do we need a best controller thread or sega vs nintendo threads?

This is not the "nostalgia" board, it's the "gaming before the year 2000" board.

That said its not much weaker, cant help but wonder what would have happened had sega supported it as long as PS2 was supported, shame 6th gen killed it instantly.

Whether it's by design philosophy / industry trends or by periods of time, the 6th gen should be here.

The only argument I can see against it is that the board would be flooded, which is true. On the other hand of that, though, I don't think that what this board currently is is worth preserving, so maybe the flood would be a good thing.
