Unpopular opinion: This is the third-weakest classic series Mega Man, ranking only above Mega Man 5 and Mega Man 3.

Most of the weapons are hot garbage except for Metal Blade, which is too strong for its own good. Also, the Wily Stages are visually bland and not designed very well at all, everything from the bosses to the levels turns to shit once all 8 robot masters are done for.

>> No.4556958

Not that unpopular. As you said, Metal Blade is too strong and the other weapons aren't good enough

Aside from that, Boobeam Trap is a bad design because of how weapon energy and Crash Bomber works
Air Man is too tough to beat without Leaf Shield and abusing invincibility frames
Quick Man is too tough to beat without his weaknesses
I don't agree with your complaint about Wily Stages but w/e
Wily Machine has some nigh-undodgeable attacks

People who say Mega Man 2 is the best only say that because they either they played Mega Man 1 first,
or they were born in the 80's and have nostalgia goggles

Mega Man 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9 are all superior. E

All opinions are valid, as long as everyone agrees that 5 and 8 are the worst and for stupid babbys.

Funny thing is, Quick Man isn't supposed to be as tough as he is. He has a pattern and some RNG, it's bugged but it's supposed to go like this:

1. Jump at a random height
2. Jump at a random height for a second time once he lands on the floor
3. Throw boomerangs at the peak of his second jump
4. Jump at a random height for a third time once he lands on the floor
5. Run towards you when he lands on the floor

However, because Quick Man is so fast, he can sometimes clip into the wall and waste a jump while trying to get out of the wall. Even if you know this, this knowledge doesn't make Quick Man all that much easier because he's still difficult to react to and it can be hard to tell if he wasted a jump.

I never knew about that. Does Doc Quick follow that pattern too?

Troll thread? You just said my 3 fav MM games are the worst.

"Final Fantasy 6 is the worst Final Fantasy".

well let me blow your mind kid, I've finished the supposedly worst FF (FF2 NES) multiple times, while dropping FFVI 5 times during the world of ruin out of sheer boredom
also MM2 is rather weak (but still good) for the reasons OP stated
and fuck off with your shit meme reaction images back to /v/ or /tv/ or whatever shithole you crawled out of

Liking arcade games. But this is only unpopular where I live, not really here (I'm here for a reason, to discuss these).
If you're asking unpopular for /vr/, then maybe the following: I derive 0 enjoyment out of games from anything that isn't engaging with the game mechanics. I couldn't give less of a shit about aesthetics, even when non-intrusive. I may like, say, a soundtrack, but that is totally independent of me liking the game. For instance, I don't miss playing G-Darius emulated without the soundtrack, even if I like the soundtrack when listening to it outside of the game.
I play to play (engage with game mechanics), when I'm in the mood to enjoy music I just listen to it, when I want a story I read or watch something, etc. I mean, I don't NEED music to enjoy a game of chess, and the same applies to games.

I know some people like 8 (and admittedly when I played the Famicom fan-version those Japs made I liked it too) but I can't help it, I just think it's fucking terrible.

I just checked it. His pattern seems to be totally random. He hesitates a little before running at you now, so you can at least react to it.

Yeah, Doc Quick is intentionally random. It could be that they found a bug fix along the way but decided to make Doc Quick feel random again anyways.

Its the best cuz its music is the best. Shallow but true. Theres a reason its called rockman. The music is so damn good.

The Saturn version has more music, higher quality audio and remixed tracks, more extras/secrets including unlockable content as well as two legacy bosses, and very importantly it has far less input lag to the point it took me dozens of tries to get past the boarding segments in the PS1 version but I finished them first try on Saturn. It also had more polish and background effects like a flock of birds flying instead of a single bird in the intro stage.

So overall the Saturn version plays more smoothly, has more content, is more polished, has better visual effects, better audio all around, and is overall just a way more complete and playable package.

Just download SSF and use Virtual Clonedrive to mount a Mega Man 8 Saturn ISO (PowerISO doesn't work for some reason and you'd have to be fucking braindead to use Daemon's Tools in this day and age)

It's a pretty decent game but I think that Mega Man & Bass was an improvement. However the SNES version of MM&B is great while the GBA version is unplayably bad.
