What was the first NES game you ever beat?
Does it hold up today?
Would you play it again today?

>Pic related
>To me, yes

Do remakes count?

It has two glaring design flaws:
1. you can take damage in a screen transition
2. you start with 30 energy and energy is a bitch to farm
I beat it twice...

Anyway, Super Mario Bros. 3 is my first NES game. It absolutely holds up and I would absolutely play it again, although I'd probably prefer to play a ROM hack, since I had played it so many times over.

>What was the first NES game you ever beat and could you write a stupid blogpost about it?
Sure, it was Contra.
Other than the SMB/DH game that came packed in with my Nintendo, Contra and 1943 were the two games I asked for and received for Christmas that year. I'd seen my friends' older brothers playing both of those games, and decided I had to have them. And so Contra was the first game I ever beat, and the first I ever 1cc'ed (without the Konami Code, obviously).

>Does it hold up today?
Yes.

>Would you play it again today?
I would. And I might, now that you've mentioned it.

As an aside, I still to this day haven't beat the NES version of 1943. Make of that what you will.

I fist beat TMNT 2 when I was 6 years old. And yes it does still hold up today as I will still pop it in at least once a year.

Was such a satisfying game to beat as a kid since back then I beat it without a guide and when I couldn't just go online to find the answer to everything. I still really love the game.

Fun-fact: I don't know if you know who Douglass Crockford is, but he's the one who did the NES port.

I think either this or SMB2.

>> No.4534501

Hrmm, I thought for sure it would have been one of the Marios, but thinking back on it, I think I beat the All-Stars versions first.

I think it may be the Legend of Zelda in that case. I used a cheating device to unlock it in Animal Crossing as one of those playable NES games. I was at it for weeks.

>would you play it again today

I play it multiple times a year, usually trying to get no deaths, or i'll play a randomized version of the game. I'd say so.
