DosBox have inbuild video recording feature. You just need to map it to some keys which do not affect your desktop Enviroment. If you in linux the default keys won't work.
Then You can convert it to webm using any tool you see fit.

Axelay is one of the very few FPS where at certain points you should use certain weapons or it will be tough. Aside from that its like with most games, its about memorizing the levels for the most part. I would say axelay gets hard in the last stage(s) but not very unfair. Still very playable. Also the most creative shmup. It's the contraIII of shmups.

Quake is an amazing game, but I always felt like they dropped the ball on the content. The game just didn't make any coherent thematic or aesthetic sense, which was a huge letdown in comparison to Doom, which had been VERY tonally consistent and clearly conceptually defined.

>> No.4480092 [DELETED]

doesn't matter at all. It's still easily one of the greatest FPS's ever made, if not the single greatest one ever made. I don't expect a fucking retarded /vr/ meme kid to understand this though.

>> No.4480107 [DELETED]

>>4480049
>The game just didn't make any coherent thematic or aesthetic sense
Actually it's very 'coherent and thematically consistent'. First level of each episode is always a tech base from which you enter a slipgate into another dimension. You then go through this dimension beating a bunch of otherworldly monsters, acquire the four runes needed to beat shub niggurath, before returning back home from an ending slipgate. Once upon a time FPS didn't really need story, and Quake's 'story' is about as advanced as Doom's 'story' is. It's simply a backdrop for gameplay and level design that's really hardly important.

Idiots that make the claim that Quake is merely 'scrapped content' do not appreciate good gameplay or level design. The bottom line is that the end result of Quake is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhzXKMqZBBc

Doesn't matter if something is "intended" or not. It is what it is, and Quake offers the richest gameplay mechanics out of any single player FPS experience hands down. I do not expect anything better from the fools of this board that are too pleb to understand this -- that is, the majority of /vr/'s doom babby community.

RPG is AIDS anyway. id software making one sounds even more ridiculous. (romero tried making something a bit more elaborate with daikatana and look what happened to that.) instead id stuck to their craft and in crunchtime produced hands down the best fully 3D FPS ever made. what happened with Quake that resulted in its final form is an absolute blessing. we have never seen 3D level design (or combat) like that for a campaign FPS since its release. we ended up with a no-bullshit, 100% combat orientated shooter all about level layout and gameplay (both of which happen to be fucking splendid). not to mention quake's sound design (and resultant atmosphere) is just so fucking sublime and ethereal. you can't appreciate Quake because you are a faggot. simple.

Not him but that's my OC. It's fucking amazing. I've played the living shit out of Blood and I can't tell anything off gameplay wise. First time I ever tried it I immediately felt right at home, albeit with much better performance/framerate/mouse control. I bait the exact same behaviours out of enemies, my guns feel exactly the same, everything feels the same. I even notice the same tiny weird idioscyncracies Blood has while playing GDX; the kind that are so minute that I wouldn't have even thought of them unless I was playing the game and noticing them happening. The only thing I found different in the version I tried is that the Life Leech has similar behaviour to an earlier retail release 1.0, where it gives you life when used against enemies.

It's a great port and I'm never going back to DOSBox, which for me has gross performance drops and suffers from variable input lag. Meanwhile I play GDX at a rock solid 120hz. Apparently BGDX doesn't desync with Blood demos from '97 which is a testament to its accuracy. Hell you can even use your save games interchangeably from GDX and the original release. Even running fan addons like Death Wish, French Meat etc is now super easy, instead of jumping through all the annoying hoops you had to go through in the past to get them working with DOSBox.

I really wasn't expecting it to be so good, and was fully expecting to come across something that didn't feel right gameplay wise, but it just didn't happen. There are rare visual clipping issues and the polymost renderer used has washed out colours/less atmospheric shading compared to the original software render but that's it (polymost also has advantages however, like being a true 3D renderer so you don't get distortion when looking around, and of course GDX runs at much higher resolutions without slowdown and features true widescreen support). It's still in beta though so expect the visual glitches to be ironed out.

The guy who makes this must be so ultra familiar with every enemy encounter in Blood to be able to pull stuff like this off without dying, at least on anything above the 2nd lowest difficulty setting. Game is hard as balls with all the hitscanners and if you don't get your shots in before they start shooting you're filled full of holes.

Would be interesting to see some sort of full speedrun or playthrough by this guy with zero deaths (segment it by levels or whatever). Blood on higher difficulties to me always turned into a kind of savescum game.

They need to update the qualifications for this board to include ALL 6th gen hardware. The simple fact of the matter is that at this point in time "old school gaming" or "retro gaming" basically means "anything from the pre-HD era" (Wii is excluded from this because it still came out in the post-HD era despite being SD).

yeah it is. they're a lot more physics based in carma 2 and they get limb dismemberment and stuff at each main joint. I had a lot more fun splatting them in 2 than 1. in 1 if your car even slightly touched a pedestrian he would immediately splat, in carma 2 if you nudged a pedestrian he would have just slightly fallen over but not died. was a lot more satisfying in 2 imo because of the physics component.

Not really, I was never impressed by early 3D even at the time. The games that impressed were the ones that acrually looked neat, like Far Cry 1 (which was later). Early 3D was always pretty ugly, and we knew this back them because 2D was very pretty in comparison.
