to ditch the second ion cannon. It's not worth the extra energy drain.
Also more fuel tanks, like 200 should be good for doing a lot of the plot in one go. You won't have to go back until you need to upgrade your mothership

So far I talked with Pkunk, they gave me some pretty lousy ships.
Any encounter I get with any hostile aliens except the automated probes just fucks my whole day up.

The vindicator is actually totally op with max thrusters and turning like you have. It should clean up vs anything but a lucky vux or kohr ah

Make the enemy chase you, your weapons go much much farther if you shoot behind your velocity vector.

Ultra spoiler: The earthling ship is really good if you can get an early gravity assist and avoid hitting the planet again. It has really long range and good damage.

Nah, no invulnerability for ilwrath. They will decloak to torch incoming projectiles if it will do enough damage to stop them.

I still feel like I'm either retarded or really bad at this game. My tactic so far has been to use Earthlings and spam long range rockets while trying to keep distance.
Trying to use the Vindicator makes me want to rip my dick off with the other end of a hammer because it's so hard to hit anything with one short range pellet and limited turning angles (even the tiniest tap rotates me like 20 degrees).
Also these enemy encounters are starting to have over 100 crew. Really I've been ESCing out of anything except automated drones.

What you want to do is learn how to hit and run with the Eluder. It's one of the best ships in the game against the AI.

You shouldn't be rolling up on ur-quan or kohr-ah yet I don't think. Do you actually have a mission there, or are you trying to grind them for RU?

Pkunk are actually really good against both because it's so fast. You need to juke the kohr-ah to blow its flame walls, then get on its butt and take him out that way.

You got earthling tactics basically right.
Fwiffo is also really good against most of the ships you'll be fighting early on.

Yeah you do, it's the Spathi ship. He's right, it really is one of the best ships in the game. Personally I would recommend getting more comfortable with it than the Vindicator.

If you get enough credits (find rainbow worlds and tell the Melnorme where they are, it'll get you a lot of credits) you can buy better guns for the Vindicator.
