RE3
Jill Valentine
R.P.D. Police Station
RE1 save room theme

Pretty much everything about RE3 makes it my favourite, but the save room theme from RE1 is my top track, while RE3 ending theme is the runner up. Other than that, I like the level designs of the destruction and carnage throughout the city. Having a BOW like Nemesis hunting you down throughout the game is a pants shitting experience. The variety of monsters is great and the zombies themselves don't look as identical to eachother like the previous games. The 180 turn and dodge mechanic is a nice addition to the gameplay. The OST has plenty of unnerving tracks form the Ckock Tower, Nemesis attack and tension prior to the encounter, and the background noise of zombies hallowing echo throughout the city. To me, it's a true third installment to the series as oppose to the other game that's shit.

because there's more rooms to explore, unlike the events in RE3 where almost everything is barricaded. Exploring the dark, mysterious police station run by a corrupt chief was fun.

I so wish they continued the series by building off the changes made in RE3, the improvements to combat with dodging, bullet crafting, the larger, more open areas combined with the story choices, etc, while retaining the same basic gameplay, instead of trying to reinvent the game with RE4. RE4 could have just been a spin-off like Dead Aim.

Don't know why you'd put that over original CV. Only better thing is Steve's haircut, and then it adds real dumb shit like Wesker curbstomping Claire (it was fucking hilarious though) and making the Alexia vs Wesker fight less one-sided. It also added the weird end scene where Chris and Wesker fight for 7 minutes that gives us quite a few memorable lines
>Steve should be a good specimen. Maybe he'll come back alive just as I did and be able to see your sister again
>MAGNIFICENT. Don't you think?
But, all those lines were at the cost of this beautiful scene

I heard there was a lot of infighting with the team, something about people wanting money, so it probably crashed and burned. Think there are a few still trying to restore it though
Also, why 1.5? Honestly, the police station was quite generic and I can see why they made the RE2 station so over the top.
Do you like it because it's still incomplete and isn't finished enough to link up from room to room, giving it that air of mystery?

There's a guy on Youtube named Martin Biohazard who's piecemeal modding the current build. So far we have new stuff like an undiscovered puzzle in the police cheif's room, working weapons, maps and cutscenes.

>That and I like it's overall design aesthetic more desu. Also brings back nostalgia pouring over magazine previews of 1.5 thinking how great it looked and how excited I was.
It's funny because most people by now have played the leaked build and have moved on. They say the itch has been scratched and there's no reason to obsess over 1.5 any longer. Opposite for me, if anything trying the build out after all these years has me wanting even more. Hope someday the 90-whatever % build gets leaked, doubtful, but I said the same thing about ANY build of 1.5 ever seeing the light of day years ago.

Haven't played it yet, is it good? I know the jist of the story/premise. I like how RE 1 up to the lab had you believing that the 'monsters' in the mansion were supernatural. You don't get any clue of their real nature until you find the note from Umbrella in the deer head room. When I first played RE 1 back on release I totally bought into the monsters being demons and had my mind blown that it was creatures created by a pharmaceutical company. Mind you I was young and this was long before the trope of zombies born from experiments gone awry was mainstream.

Rookie Leon, special mention to Chief Irons for being so depraved too.
Raccoon City streets from RE2 and 3.

Playing RE2 in 98 was a life changing experience, the opening CG sequence was something out of this world for the time. Due to Silent Hill It's hard to believe that RE was a really scary game that put you on edge every time you played it, but it was something really special to feel dread with a videogame. The tension build up in the first 15 minutes of RE2 is excellent(streets, gun shop, backalleys, bus, streets, RPD exterior, RPD, Marvin, Seeing the licker passing by the window).

I've been expecting to do a lot of save scumming and trial and error runs to perfect segments from save to save, but as I played through the original trilogy it has gotten easier and easier. >best version of 2
Unless you know Japanese, it's objectively the Dreamcast version. N64 version has some extra files and a randomizer though, so check that out (I wouldn't suggest it as the best one for the first experience, given how compact everything is and the FMVs are shit)
The most accessible one is the PS1 version, as it's $5 on PSP, PS3 and Vita.
I have a DDL link for this game and RE3 on PC though. Not Sourcenext, original. They're kind of hard to work with and RE2 requires an install guide to figure out. I haven't tried installing RE3 as someone gave me PC versions that don't need the discs and with the Environmental Graphics mod. Surprisingly, it wasn't riddled with viruses.
>best version of RE3
Objectively Dreamcast unless you have my copy on PC or know Japanese.
Other than that PC>PS1=GCN.
Every GCN version is a port of the PS1 version, just so you know. The only convenience is that RE2 is on one disc, but the N64 version is one cart.
>best CV
That depends.
Do you hate Matrix Wesker and want to see him get beat up? Grab the original Dreamcast version.
Do you like Matrix Wesker? Well, lucky for you, there are a lot of options.
CODE:Veronica X is available on PS2, GCN, Dreamcast (Jap only) and PS4. CVXHD is available on PS3 and 360. No PC version, but the GCN is easy to emulate.
After those games, if you like classic RE, check out the following
>Gun Survivor (PS1 only, PC version is a broken Taiwanese mess)
>Gun Survivor 2 (PS2 only)
>Gun Survivor 4 (PS2 only, known as Dead Aim outside Japan)
>Outbreak 1 and 2 (PS2 only, shit AI, long load times, as it used to be online)
>RE0 (best version is PC or PS4)
Also, watch Biohazard 4D Executer. It's 20 minutes and on Youtube. It's fun and canon.

There's 3 modes, classic with those features up top added. And rebirth mode with hunters and chimeras switched and more foes and all new puzzles making use of the touch screen. The training mode is from directors cut though.

Plus multiplayer co op mode. And green or red blood option.

There's much more to mention like replay cheats and touch screen funny stuff.

Played through the vanilla and patched versions of the 1.5 demo last weekend, really enjoyed it. I can see why Capcom wanted the game scraped and remade, it was pretty much an upgraded RE 1 set in Racoon City. That's not a bad thing imo. Less puzzles (let's face it, 1 didn't have the best puzzles) and more focus on action would have been a good counterpoint to 1's survival horror. It's a shame we will probably never know the full scope of the project and what the intended story+world was going to look like but at least we now have a glimpse and I'm grateful for at least that. Not joking when I say that I would have been pleased with 1.5 if that's what we got instead of 2.

So many Re games have no leaks. All of the re4 protos. The 1.5 game. Early versions of re3 and re5. The aborted re2 and re1 for game boy advance. The aborted Snes protype of re1.

Few re1 prototypes and gameboy colors are out there. While demos of other games have old stuff buried in.

1.5 had the 40% build leaked. Some people say a collector has the 80% or 90% build, forget which. Also the beta V-Jump RE 1 prototypes got leaked too. As for the rest, I'd assume they are with Capcom or got trashed. Who knows.

You could think of it as a parallel universe to RE2 where the police station is more realistic, and the two main characters never cross paths. A lot of the same characters are there (as well as one or two who weren't in the final game) but with different roles, so Chief Irons is just a regular police chief instead of the sociopathic art freak we all know, Claire is called Elza and has no relation to Chris, Ada is a scientist, Marvin and Kendo have more prominent roles in the story. Birkin is still trying to copulate with Sherry, so the whole G-Virus plot is probably still intact. The general storyline is probably the same but the way it plays out was changed after they got an actual screenwriter to write it instead of Kamiya himself.

That wasn't a mistake at all, what the fuck? We literally wouldn't have the Resident Evil 2 the vast majority of fans know and love today if it wasn't for that, even Kamiya himself outright admitted it was bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as interested as you are in 1.5 but there isn't a single part of me that would have preferred to have it over the final version we got.

The fact that they were willing to start over (even with it being 80% complete) to make sure it was as perfect as it could be is something I don't think any other developer had or has done since. RE2 is only as good as it is because of that, if it was any less would people even be interested in 1.5? I doubt it.
