OP is basically correct. Something about the 16bit games look and feel clunky and CV 3 has some of the best looking 8bit graphics out there. Its hard to convey mood with NES graphics, but it does it.

All the 16bit ones are great games, though. Yes, even Drac X. Just not as good as 3.
