Illusion City is a sweet RPG but it does seem better on the Mega CD it's a shame that one wasn't the one that was translated and that the existing translation is incomplete. I enjoyed Treasure of Usas and Welcome To Heaven quite a bit. There are a lot of obscure games on MSX that are quite playable without Japanese literacy which is more than can be said about most retro Japanese computers.

Maybe it's a common answer, but I rather like Drasle Family on the MSX. It's a well-done Metroid/RPG hybrid with a nice character-switching mechanic. As it's made by Falcom, it's about as approachable and easy to get in to as possible, but is a real tough game once you get deeper into it.

I tried playing it on the PC Engine, but there are too many untranslated menus for me to navigate. It seemed like it tried to stuff Ultima depth into a side-scroller - which is cool, but not if I can't read it! I gave up when I couldn't figure out how to get one of my fallen comrades rez'd by the priest.

Is the romset you downloaded actually complete? If so do you know where I can download it? I downloaded a couple from isozone I had found but they were missing quite a few games on further inspection, including a bunch of .DSK games. Can't seem to find a truly 100% romset for msx1/2
