only for 1 game... COSMIC CARNAGE

I made the mistake of buying one back when they came out.

Should have bought more games or a different console.

>> No.4428176

No, not really, but it's a cool thing to own if you can find it for cheat and already have a flashcart. Mega CD is the patrician add on.

Some years ago when you could get one for like 20bux and the guy would be glad to be rid of it? Oh yeah, there's a couple HIDDEN GEMS there worth that, definitely.
For the retarded prices I'm seeing on ebay right now? Jesus christ no.

And those are 150€ with zero cables and untested. It's Saturn tier to collect for and even worse from an upkeeping standpoint.

Americans cannot into international shipping. Everything heavier than 1 game is "global super flat rate $70 untracked"
Compared to shipping from Japan or China, American shipping is a joke.

The worst is that it effectively doubles the import tax needed which is 24% of the total price.

Why would you pay that when you can get a lone 32x for a quarter of that price, and the necessary cables for under 30 pounds?

I do not regret getting mine when I did. There are fun games if you enjoy arcade-like experiences. However, I think the days of getting one at $5-$20USD are over unless you can repair and restore broken ones.

>>4428239
Yeah, I have noticed the prices of Sega games climbing out of reach. The consoles are all cheap, but the addon peripherals and games have gotten really expensive. I still desire Kolibri for my 32X as it is the last game I want for the system (After Burner Complete is not pictured), but I have watched it go from $50 complete, which was too expensive 1 year ago, to now $65 for cart only. I guess it was my fault for learning about the game a year ago.

Absolutely. Every bandwagoner needs to overpay on ebay for at least one useless to achieve any sort of hipster cred.

If its for your collection and its rare, why not?

I collect gp32 and ngage games. That shit is hard to find and ebay is the only way sometimes. I pay enough for things. you dont always get ripped off on ebay, unless its an amibo or snes mini thpe thing.

I bought one at a pharmacy in Maryland for $20 back in the early 2000s. No idea what it was doing there, didn't care, always wanted one.

I didn't actually find any games for it until much later though. To date I have Knuckles Chaotix, Shadow Squadron, Space Harrier, After Burner, Virtua Racing and Mortal Kombat II. Had Star Wars but sold it after discovering it wasn't very fun.

The only good game you have there is the StarWars Arcade.
Other games I'd tell you to get are MetalHead, T-Mek, Cosmic Carnage, AfterBurner, Virtua Racing, Kolibri, Shadow Squadron, and Space Harrier.

The rest is mostly garbage.

>> No.4432079

Tempo, Chaotix, Cosmic Carnage and Kolibri look good. The rest have better ports on the saturn.

Speaking of Sega add ons, is there a lot of overlap between the mega cd and saturn? If you have a saturn already, is it a good idea to get a mega cd?

Chaotix looks good, even I have a copy, but it's not the best thought out game. It's really hardly a game. Everything looks good, and the mechanics are pretty sound once you get down how the controls work, but outside of that, it's not really a "game" in the sense of it being a game. I mean, sure, there's a beginning and an end of a level, but nothing memorable in the game outside of the pretty visuals and good soundtrack. With the levels being fairly empty, it's just a time-trial game, and without any real obstacles aside from the momentum-stopping door that you have to hold down 2 buttons to open, it really loses the appeal of gameplay because it makes you stop. The best part about the previous sonic games is that they were pretty fluid for the most part, as Platforming goes. Yeah, they had some areas where you'd have to slow down or stop, but they were pretty well spaced out. Otherwise, most of the levels felt pretty good. Everything else looking good and being pretty tight as far as the controls go was a nice bonus, but the levels played well and played to the strengths of Sonic. Knuckles Chaotix doesn't do that, sadly. And I know the argument can be made that it wasn't for that, but it was pretty obvious it was meant to be a sonic game by the way you play. You spend your time speeding up with the rubber-band ring mechanic, instead of the spin-dash, only to be stopped multiple times throughout each level by a door you have to use the rubber-band mechanic to get past. It just makes for a start-stop-start-stop feel and it's usually pretty jarring.

Other than that, I like the look and sound of the game.

>Is the 32X worth it
I'm tired of seeing this thread and so I'm gonna lay this out just like I did for the Virtual-Boy thread.
The 32X has a total of 40 titles released for it. They are as follows:
>After Burner
>BC Racers
>Blackthorne
>Brutal: Above the Claw
>Cosmic Carnage
>DarXide
>Doom
>FIFA Soccer '96
>Golf Magazine
>Knuckles Chaotix
>Kolibri
>Metal Head
>Mortal Kombat II
>Motocross Championship
>NBA Jam: Tournament Edition
>NFL Quarterback Club
>Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
>Primal Rage
>R.B.I. Baseball '95
>Sangokushi IV
>Shadow Squadron
>Space Harrier
>Spider-Man: Web of Fire
>Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Starship Bridge Simulator
>Star Wars Arcade
>T-Mek
>Tempo
>Toughman Contest
>Virtua-Fighter
>Virtua Racing Deluxe
>World Series Baseball
>WWF Raw
>WWF WrestleMania
>Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000

The only ones missing from that list also required the Sega CD to be played, which are as follows:
>Corpse Killer
>Farenheit
>Night Trap
>Slam City with Scottie Pippen
>Supreme Warrior
>Surgical Strike

It had a few cancelled games for it as well, but those really aren't important seeing as they never got released, and frankly, I don't care about cancelled games and what "could have been" in this case, I'll save that for another time.

The point being: These are all the games that exist for 32X. You can decide whether or not you like these games. I haven't played all of them, but I have played most of the titles I want to.
I currently own After Burner, Cosmic Carnage, Doom, Knuckles Chaotix, Metal Head, and Star Wars Arcade. Of the titles I don't own, I have played Blackthorne, Kolibri, MKII, Pitfall, Shadow Squadron, Space Harrier, Star Trek, T-Mek, Tempo, and Virtua-Fighter. I liked most of what I've played on it. I want to play DarXide, but unfortunately, its next to impossible to get your hands on a real cart and not a $60 Repro, last I checked.
You decide, OP. Is it worth buying?
