This and the NES version were both fucking amazing when it came to music. The Mountains, Inside the Volcano, Funny Funny, Another World, The Swamp, Rabbit Ride, fucking hell every single song in these games were catchy at worst and godly at best. I love these OSTs.

Puyo Puyo clone, except
>only clockwise rotation, so you have to rotate 3 times clockwise instead of just 1 counter-clockwise rotation, which takes up more time
>drop speed increase hurts a lot more since holding down left or right doesn't move the pair over as quick as mashing left or right
>bomb and "crazy candy" functions to get rid of blobs quicker, but also limited chain setups

That being said, this is the only Puyo clone I know of that actually has an offset function, so credit where credit is due. Stages 2, 3, 8, 11 have great soundtracks.

This. Got it for Christmas of '96 when I was 10 years old. I knew it wasn't nearly as good as the 2D Sonic games, but it was still fun, and the graphics and sound are stellar for a 16 bit system.

I feel like if the game had just not had Sonic in it, it would probably have become one of those late-system games with a cult following that fetches stupid money on ebay because hipsters love it.

Most people never played that game for decades. It came out while Saturn was getting blown out in sales and very very late in the Genesis cycle. Saturn version got average reviews and Genesis version got good reviews, which is bizarre considering their the same exact game with slightly better graphics for the Saturn and a different soundtrack. The internet, in all its wisdom, then parroted the middling Saturn reviews and written the game off as shit without ever playing it (which is obvious from the big criticism of the game being that the isometric view makes jumping impossible, which is a problem in literally two jumps of the whole game and can usually be done after three or four attempts and that flickies are impossibly annoying to find after getting hit, when the reality is that the difficulty is babby tier). People who have actually played the game usually liked it.

Exactly the same, got the Saturn version for Christmas in 96, didn't even know what it was. Thought it would be the 3D Sonic game I always imagined. Was disappointed when I played it and it wasn't like a typical Sonic game, then I actually kept playing it and realized how damn fun it was.

I liked the genesis soundtrack better but the saturn version also has nice chill music. In fact the music is the best part about 3D blast but its still a decent game. Same with Sonic R.

Rusty Ruin Zone from Saturn might be my favorite music from any video game ever, but both Saturn and Genesis had great music. Most people I have seen say they prefer the Genesis soundtrack for whatever it's worth, it's just a matter of taste both are very well done.
