Getting your head around building them so they collapse right is the biggest part, after that it's mostly working on your speed. Game gets crazy fast.

I recommend playing the PC Engine remake for superior graphics and sound or the Megadrive one for the Zangief esque battle system, they are cute as they come and totally accessible. I was afraid the PC Engine used voiced cutscenes but everything is transcribed in a message box and you can advance the text at your own pace.
Also the games are kinda easy, even in the PC98 you recover all health upon level up, there's a free automap at the press of a button and you level up pretty fast. The game is so simple there isn't even equipment or stat numbers.

I honestly wouldn't mind dealing with the difficulty if the difficulty wasn't artificially inflated by upping the drop speed down to ridiculous levels. By the last tower it just gets so stupid fast I literally cannot react fast enough. And there's no git gud solution around, my reflexes and response time literally cannot handle it.

I don't think it would work. In Puyo Puyo or Tetris, receiving a lot of garbage can directly cause you to lose. In Panel de Pon, it's possible to survive for several minutes underneath garbage, even on high speeds. Panel de Pon's power level is too high.

Played more Yon, got to stage 12 (Chico). It's fucking ridiculous, pure suffering. Since your almost at the end of the story mode, just little forewarning. The last two stages (15 &16) take away your ability to use special attacks and add a horizontal board wrapping gimmick that can fuck up your chain setups if you're not careful.

For some reason the rom for this is having issues. It plays the company logo fine but then freezes and does what can be described as frame-by-frame whenever I hit the key I've designated as a speed button If I leave it be, it stays stationary at whatever frame I stopped holding the speed key at. It doesn't play any audio either. When I get to the menu, it reacts to my inputs after a few second delay but the creatures in the background seem to rotate much more slowly than they seem like they should so it doesn't seem like it generally runs better once I get into the menu. I've downloaded plenty of roms in my time but I haven't come across something like this before. Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it?
