You know, I had to think why Ocarina of Time was so easily, but two things come to me.

1: Combat is lest clusterfucky than the 2D ones can be. It's slowed down, methodical, whereas in most other zelda games, combat is spontaneous and can be all over the place, depending.

2: Damage is less punishing. In both Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, each heart is worth 4 points, instead of 2. when you take damage in the 3D zeldas, you have a lot of time to recover, rather than a half second of invulnerability.

You can make many more mistakes before you die. The only enemy in the game that deals multiple hearts of damage in a single hit is the Iron Knuckle, of which there are a total of 5 in the game, and they're not particularly difficult to fight, their attack being the biggest telegraph in history.

I'm inclined to agree. Link's Awakening is another contender for easiest Zelda

>> No.4365496

Am I the only person who finds Zelda 1 harder than Zelda 2? Just crouch jump and you've won 90% of the game. Thunderbird is tough, that's about it.
Meanwhile zelda 1 has awkward controls and enemies after level 4ish continually wreck my shit.

Link's Awakening

Let's see. I've completed most Zelda games at least half a dozen times.

Hard-tier (from hardest to easiest)
--------------------------------
>Majora's Mask
>Zelda II
The action stages seem to give most players a lot of trouble, especially later on when there are lava pitfalls surrounding Link. Grinding doesn't always help since bad maneuvering can kill Link instantly.
>Link's Awakening
You'd think this one would be on the easy list, but the game doesn't give you heart pieces or heart containers as liberally as other Zelda games. Link has a noticeably unfavorable recovery time in LA, as well. Enemies can keep doling out attacks and inflict continuous damage just milliseconds apart. It's very easy to have all your hearts sapped by early bosses.
>Legend of Zelda
Wizzrobes and darknut trap rooms are notoriously hard for a lot of players.

Low-tier (from easiest to hardest)
--------------------------------
>Ocarina of Time
Easily babby's first Zelda.
>A Link to the Past
Not easy per se, but it's not at all difficult to obtain powerful items or an unnecessary surplus of hearts early into the game.
>Oracles duology

Link's Awakening is only easy until you get to the 7th dungeon Eagle's Tower that separates the men from the casual guide users. The last 2 dungeons in LA are some of the best in the series. I remember getting stuck in Turtle Rock as a kid for at least a month way longer than the water temple. I would say OOT is the easiest Zelda the water temple is piss easy if you find all the keys.

>Link's Awakening is only easy until you get to the 7th dungeon

It's not all that easy before that. The game tries its best to deprive you of power ups until you collect the flippers and the hookshot. You'll probably have less than a full row of hearts before you even get to the fifth dungeon.

Only the NES games are hard at all, the others are all about the same difficulty.

>> No.4365565

Oracle of Seasons was easier, actually

>> No.4365569

>>4364593
First 2 games, basically. After that pretty much every single game is easy, at least if you are familiar with the series.

This.

The only real question is which is harder Zelda 2 or the Second Quest in Zelda 1.

>> No.4365647

>>4365601
It's easy by NES standards. Which is to say it's hard by the standards of just about every other platform (arcade and master system being the only exceptioons I know)

I feel like Z1 has a difficulty curve that starts out lower than Z2's but ends up higher (particularly second quest). How you parse that into a determination of which is more difficult isn't particularly well-defined.

>> No.4367091

>>4367079
I think the question is how many people failed Zelda despite their best efforts vs failing Zelda 2?

>> No.4367106

Link's Awakening and the Oracle games are fairly easy.

>> No.4370194

No Zelda is hard if you play smart, as in, always have potions and full supplies. Some Zeldas can be confusing, which I'd give oracle of Ages that award, but not hard.

Easiest would be Ocarina.

>> No.4370275

Holy fuck, /vr/ actually reached a quorum on something.

zelda 2 game overs give me nightmares even to this day fucking up once and losing everything is devastating. especially for a kid before they knew where all the 1-UPs were

LoZ is easier all around
