I never played the Digimon one, but i did put more time in PTCG than in Pokemon Red.
The sequel is superior in every way, more cards and more areas to explore, also i highly recommend pic related, i have it on my phone, so me and a friend managed to collect all 300 cards, shit is fun as sin.

Digimon had a IRL card game that's still going in Japan.

It also has multiple card game games on the PSX (one includes a Hitler Agumon who puts other Agumon in camps, I shit you not). Then Digimon world 3 includes a card game inside it

Pokemon tcg is slow and boring as shit, fucking energy cards is a retarded mechanic and only being able to play 1 per turn slows the game down ever more. Pokemon tcg was fun but its just so fucking slow compared to everything else
