Finally, there's a part in ZDCMP2 in which you need to reach the blue key, the thing is, the blue key is located in a gas chamber and you need to kill three barons variants before entering the chamber.

In the room where the gas switch is located there's a monitor in which you can see the insides of it. Make the player get distracted by looking at the monitor while seeing the barons die, and activate a silent trap door with a chaingunner behind the player.

There's about three pages of console errors when you load the mod. I'm not saying anything about how the mod plays, it's just awfully made. The code is stuffed to the brim with ridiculous hacks - the player definition alone is almost 150KB of plain text. Despite using the PK3 structure it manages to be horribly disorganized and finding what you're looking for can be a real wild goose chase.

It wasn't too bad over all, though some of the balance could do with a few tweaks.

1 - The canned Khorne area was a nice setup, but the megasphere was really just overkill with all the other health items you had in the area, maybe swap it to a green armour instead to go with the heal from the beserker pack

2 - i just wanted to say, wall humping is my life

3 - I felt the invon was really not needed for this room, it's got enough healing and cover to fight everything there without too much of a need for the invon

4 - two things here, the blood walls are a bit weird by itself, i usually make a bit of a lower area round it where the blood drains into rather then the blood going down into nothing, and the second one is a nitpick more then anything, i would suggest 2 teleport pads instead of one, gets the enemies out quicker.

5 - and finally, wall humping is my life

So all in all, not bad, a bit too easy with the items around, but other then that i liked it

Just finished it with all the secrets. I loved it, though you seemed to put the good powerups and shit like that AFTER the challenge you would have needed them in, instead of before like in the BFG room secret. Maybe try moving the monsters in that room to another room behind you? I didn't really get/need to use the BFG anyways. Also, you only need one Berserk pack, the effect stays with you until you complete the map, further berserk packs just heal you to 100%. You could replace the extra packs with medikits or something. Also also some of the hallways in that one slime room were hard to navigate in.

Hexen has a set of classes, completely different weapons and mostly different enemies. Although, replaying through it now, there isn't a massive selection and most of them are boring. Well, you can make enemies spam invisible hitboxes that refer back to the monster spamming them.It's a hack but it does work.

Though if you're looking to do headshots, there's a simpler method that involves checking the height of the shot relative to the enemy's height and multiplying damage accordingly.

It's really not that hard, at least to make something nice, I had never used it before and I made Doomtra in about a week.

As for resources use Gunlabs as a starting point, then just refer to the ZDoom wiki whenever you're stuck, and you should be able to get some nice stuff done.

Course, Decorate isn't flawless. There's a lot of stuff you'll need to learn ACS to do, but if you just want to make a weapon/enemy mod it's got everything you need.

So while I was playing Hexen I had an idea for a Megaman X inspired mod. I've only got a few basic concepts for replacements down though and I don't know what all the upgrades could be.

Here's what I've got so far:

I am making my first ever Doom map guys :)

I've tried to get into level editing so many times over the years but never had the patience to get into it properly. I tried making Doom maps a few years ago and though the editors I tried were just confusing, needlessly obtuse pieces of shit.

However I downloaded Doom Builder 2 and got to grips with it in like two hours just from reading an FAQ and fucking around. Here is my map so far, I only started it last night. I am trying to make it more of a retro doom feel than the SLAUGHTERHOUUUUSE type maps you tend to get these days.

Any pointers chaps? I've noticed some wierd behaviour with the sectors and assumed maybe I just don't understand it properly, but nobody can seem to explain it any better. For example when I tried to create some raised platforms in a sort of stairway in the large area to the right of the map, I ended up making whole sectors just disappear somehow. Not sure I get what's happening there.

The only errors it's giving are missing textures, which I know are just from a stairway I started building before breakfast.

What happened is I used the linedef draw function, started off at one of the vertices on the top right, and made a closed sector that I was just going to have at a different height. When I finished it the "child sector" within it just straight up went black. It seems like it was invalidating it because all except one of the linedefs was highlighted in red, like it was fucking it up by stopping it closing the loop somehow. I just don't see how that's any different to any of the other sectors I had made in the same way.

There are pretty good Doom ports for the phone. I recommend DoomGLES on Android (i dont know if Apple), however it is practically remade to make the game 3D and takes a gigabyte of space. It has nice framerate if you have the phone for the job, and is relatively easy to pirate if it doesn't seem worth it paying for. A major issue is that the downloadable patch files required take longer than the refund time so I recommend downloading those first on the computer. I also like their Heretic port.

how to get frustrated with doom even more:

1. download ZDoom 2.6.1 or it's GZDoom counterpart (doesn't work on zandronum)
2. copy http://pastebin.com/zy2ZEqpb into mapinfo.txt
3. either drag the textfile into zdoom.exe or create the bat file that loads the file so you can play other WADs
4. ???
5. have... fun, i guess.

Ultra-Violence - like UV in vanillia doom, except monsters behave like nightmare except respawning
Nightmare - like NM in vanillia doom, except without double ammo
Rape - Less ammo, less armor, monsters have 2x health and respawn way quicker, you receive 2x damage. Good luck.
Heaven and Hell - everything instagibs everything.
Hell and Hell - everything instagibs you. find the cover.
Tough Guys - all monsters have 10x more hp. you receive slightly less damage and you can find shitload of ammo
Everything Sucks - like UltraViolence, except the good pickups are replaced by their weaker counterparts. no BFG and chaingun

Well no, I take that back. The aerial movement is probably fine. I think better map design would improve jump areas actually. Boosts with more FAST and better ramps, for instance.

My other two questions still stand IMO. Drifting is an integral part of the karting experience, and that air movement isn't going to mean much if there's no awesome skidding to a halt to go around a corner when you land.

Make a table model. Duplicated it. Pull the faces of the model out so it wraps around the original model like a coat. Select the faces and invert the normals so the texture faces inwars (it'd be like looking through a box of one-way glass, so you can see in but not out). Then make its texture black.
