The console is turning 30 years old (or rather the PC- Engine). What are the best games for this platform on both the Hu-card and CD formats? What did this console have or do that set it apart from the SNES/SFC and Genesis/MD?

Some RPGs of varying tittiness: Princess Minerva, Megami Paradise, BABEL, Sol Bianca, Cosmic Fantasy series, Startling Odyssey 2, Star Breaker.
The Dragon Knight ports if you want DK with voices (The PC-98 originals are tittier, but no voice.)
For shooters, Burning Angels and Hellfire S are somewhat titty. (People will mention Steam Hearts also but I'm trying to mostly stick to exclusives.)
For character raising/training games, the first two Metal Angels are PCE exclusive and might be worth looking into.
There's some strip mahjong games but I'm not too familiar with mahjong so someone else will have to cover that.
There's also Hacker International's unlicensed eroge like BodyconQuest and Highleg Fantasy

Nothing to do with media formats.
What started the downfall of video games was online multiplayer (though that would be okay if it remained like it was pre-Gen7), and later dlc/microtransactions, social network integration and marxist politics were the final nails in the coffin.

It does require a more powerful adapter, I bought mine from https://en.retrogamesupply.com/products/power-supply-for-nec-pc-engine-interface-unit

It works great for me so far, but be warned: the cable is very short. Like, 3 feet long. Also they ship from Europe. But I've bought a couple adapters from them and I trust them more than some random China trash by far. You can seek out an original adapter, but that will likely be more expensive and be much less power efficient. Not to mention it could be dangerous due to the voltage difference from Japan and you would need a step down converter to avoid trouble (more expense)

"Cultural Marxism" is an appropriation of a fascist meme about Judeo-Bolsheviks invading our society, it's not an actual political project. Seriously, do you think any strand of the Left today is familiar with the works of the Frankfurt School, the supposed inventors of this "Cultural Marxism"? Let's not forget that many of these philosophers tended towards social conservatism, and their whole impetus was the critique of consumerism and its destructive impact on culture.

Please read some Adorno if you want to actually know what you're talking about, or shut up. The idea of "well it's totally Marxism but it's about social norms instead of economics" is so fucking dumb I can't express it properly. A base, white (or CoreGrafx) PCE is generally cheaper than a TG16 since they were produced in way higher numbers, especially if you're going to Japan. There's so few TG16 games on HuCard to begin with, and once you region mod a system, it won't work with the EverDrive. There's just a switch on the TED for whatever hardware you're using and it plays every single HuCard game from any region on any machine, totally worth it to have the entire library at your fingertips.
