Nothing wrong with using an Xbox controller for /vr/ stuff. It's what I go with for Dreamcast emulation and stuff like Re-Volt.

Maybe for a little bit. Especially if you're emulating it might get a bit tricky when the buttons on your controller don't match up with those on the screen, but you get used to it. I don't 'hate' it though.

No. Enough of the controllers is the same between systems and manufacturers, that the minor changes between them is easy to remember.

It also helps to actually be a gamer. Someone that plays lots of games will naturally remember where each button is.

I’m used to the snes one but I must admit that the xbox is more logical at least with letters.
X and Y are positioned like in mathematics.
A and B are placed as a more logical thing.

The best part is near 100% of the complaints online are from people complaining about the Nintendo buttons saying they ripped off the xbox layout. They weren't even alive when the snes came out and their first nintendo experience was probably the Gamecube or Wii so they never made the connection.

Not that big of an issue in retro games, but if you get a prompt and you gotta tap fast it can get confusing.
In my experience it's only really a problem on QTEs tho, and I've only ever encountered those on modern games.

I have a hori stick as well, but by the time I got it 20+ years of fighting game muscle memory on pad made it not worth the effort. I still play well and rank high so I'm happy. If I was going to put effort into learning another set up I'd go keyboard.

By the way (pad guy here), not much experience with SFIV, I play mostly KoF up to 11 (12 and 13 are garbage) and have no troubles doing anything. But like I say, I've also been playing pad since the early 90's and fighters are one of my favorite genres.

I tried playing Mega Man X2 with the 360 controller recently and my thumbs would get worn out by the time I got to a boss. I guess the buttons have slightly less give to them than the SNES buttons.

Dual shock and the GC controller are about all I use now. Switching isn't trouble. Since they're both top notch controllers.
The GC is my favorite design ever. I cannot find a flaw in it for my hands, and I've tried hard.
