Goin ok, wife's son is doing fine as well.

are we still having weekly "why isn't X thing retro" threads? I noticed there's no /gccx/ up.

/vr/ is mostly bait, kids coming straight from reddit, and people shitting on popular games for ironic/non-ironic reasons now

as to why i'm still here and self-aware about the declining quality of this place, it's because i don't have a life. enjoy your stay

>> No.4318116

>>4318109
To be honest, we've talked about everything there was to talk about in the last 5 years since this board's conception.

Maybe, it was pretty bad around here for awhile, thus why I left. When you have the same thread twenty times a month because there's nothing new to talk about people start to be assholes about things.
Just checkin in to see if things are better really.

Played anything fresh recently? I've been trying out that controller in >>4318030, bought it new in box a few months ago but never pulled it out until yesterday. I've been checking to see what games have some kind of extra functionality with it.

Basically what >>4318109 and >>4318061 said -- reddit shit, obvious bait threads getting numerous serious replies and overall shitting the place up.

>> No.4318243

>>4318021
Same as usual only difference now is this board has been here long enough for people to be blinded by nostalgia so whenever any shitposting occurs instead of telling someone to fuck off back to /v/ they now scream the board is officially dead.

Not that good. Apparently, /vr/ is even more baitable than /k/

“Muh childhood” is not retro. My first console was the Gamecube, but it doesn’t belong here.

Still miserable with the minimum wage job, but still playing fun games. The board itself is still well paced, but good threads tend to get phased out quicker than the usual suspect threads. I think I gained a few haters, but that's because I am less anonymous with my images than just plain text replies, I'm having fun with that.

The mods of /vr/ can't even enforce the simple rules accurately already, adding in PS2 will really tax their lack of ability to determine "what consoles were released before 2000." NeoGeo games get the ban, discussion of Paprium which is a Mega Drive game is not allowed, and yet all manner of Windows XP games gets the okay just because the concept of the game was arguably around in 1999. It will be interesting to see if the homebrew Dreamcast game thread that just showed up will last.

>>4318116
Every now and then there is an interestingly new thread, but then a sudden explosion of Castlevania threads, console war threads, or just a sudden trashing of a decent game will bump those off a slow but well paced board.

>> No.4320616

This place has been a retro /v/ since roughly around 2015

>> No.4320618 [DELETED]

>>4320614
and as I posted, the homebrew Dreamcast game thread is gone ...

>> No.4320623

>>4320618
Mods are so inconsistent with dreamcast threads. Sometimes they're okay with it and then sometimes they'll just delete it for no rason. It's technically allowed because it came out within the pre 2000 release date, yet more often than not dreamcast threads get bombed with NOT RETRO!! NOT RETRO!! NOT RETRO!!.

It's not like you have any place better to be

>> No.4321862

>>4318259
The problem with PS2 generation stuff is that it just doesn't seem to fit anywhere. It's too new to be retro, and too old to be current. /vr/ would be a better place to discuss it than /v/ though. /v/ is just shit.

Speaking as an infrequent visitor, I love this board because, despite the b8 and shitposting, it has some of the most knowledgeable and passionate /vr/gamers on the web. I've seen people dissect different ports/versions of games going into minute details that I never knew about.

Also, all the obscure games that even a seasoned gamer like myself had never heard of. Hell, the only reason I don't come here more often is because everytime I do my backlog gets longer.

Also, you faggots got me into Dragon Quest and Breath of Fire.

Conversation is kept on topic. The images are of /vr/ games. Virtual On 4 Force is a Hikaru game which was arcade hardware released on 1999. No need to go all caps about it.
