Which controller do you use for emulation? I originally had an iBuffalo SNES style controller but of course it lacked dual analogue sticks for playstation games. Then I bought the Logitech F310 (pic related). It's not too expensive but I am not so sure about the d-pad. Does anyone have more experience with this controller and it's long term durability?

What do you use for emulation?

I have one of those laying around but I never ever use it. It's like the backup controller for my backup. I usually use a DS3 or a duke, sometimes my steam controller, and rarely I'll use keyboard. Duke is my favourite but only for retro shit, black and white buttons aren't good substitutes for shoulder buttons.

I used one of those for a long time, I was not a huge fan of the d pad but it lasted me like 5 years or so so I can't say it's bad at all

Though, mine eventually broke (the d pad specifically just like stopped working), I bought this and it's served me well since then. Obviously this would be ideal for 2D games and fighters, not much use for it if you play a lot of games that involve analog sticks

Same thing as last thread: https://www.amazon.com/POWER-WIRED-CONTROLLER-PS3-BLUE/dp/B01LB4KGU2/?th=1 . I just have an older, better-made model with rumble support.

Also got a standard DS3, and one of your pieces of shit as the last possible resort before keyboard, OP.

I'm not young and poor enough to use PC controllers for emulation but I have a bunch of F710s I use for PC gaming. It's basically the wireless rumble version of the F310. D-pad is meh but usable. Works out of the box with everything including fucking steam with no fucking around so there's that. Durability is great. I got my first F710 when they first came out and it's still going fine. No problems, still holding together well. Only thing is that rubber grip coating on the back turns to goo after a few years. Fucking disgusting and sticky and gets on your fingers and everything it touches. You can remove it with one of those strong multi purpose windex like cleaners. Unlike other things I've had that use that grip the one on the 710 is paper thin and comes off in about a minute without affecting the shape of the grip.

I have had an F310 for about 5 years. I used to have Saitek brand loyalty but after breaking a couple of D-pads I made the switch to Logitech.

After 5 years I'm still fairly pleased. The buttons are still nice and clicky. The dpad has felt slightly "loose" since I have owned it, but its nothing major. I wish the analog sticks had more of a dead zone, and slightly less resistance, but I don't use them nearly as much as the dpad.

I've been using a x360 pad with morii drivers ever since 2006. Those drivers allow for every single input to be customizable, you can even set up patterns for the leds like pic related.

The only downside is that getting XInput compatibility is sometimes a bitch, the most recent example being Cuphead, that just can't be made working properly that way. I'll just wait a bit until they fix the controllers, or just skip the game altogether.

before that I used a Genius G-09D, it was great for fighting games but the d-pad kept breaking off. I went through at least 3 of them, the later models had golden painted decals and buttons.
I still have one of those somewhere, but gameport compatibility was removed with NT6, which is why I got the x360 pad anyway.

Logitech has been making computer and console peripherals for a long time. People seem to like them. I don't have much experience with them outside of computer mice, but I don't think I have seen anyone complain of their controller durability. I did get gifted some wireless Logitech controllers for the OG Xbox, but I have yet to give them a try.

Have you tried the Horipad EX2 Turbo? They are the ones on the left. They double up the LB and RB and have a Nintendo-styled + d-pad (pivots on a hemisphere underneath).

i never had a duke. how is it for 2D games?

Question for you guys:
How in the fuck do you map anything on the N64 to a modern gamepad?
Specifically, what do you about the C buttons?
If you put them on the right analog stick and they're not being used for camera control, you're SOL when it comes to anything that requires precision button-pressing.

There's like two total N64 games I want to play, but this is what's been keeping me from them.
Any suggestions?

I don't really know to be honest. I only play games with analog controls using that, I use a Super Famicom joypad for everything else. It doesn't really matter that much if you're playing N64 though.

I've got that exact same controller. Works great for me.
I mean, the d-pad kinda sucks, but that's just because it's a 360 d-pad.

I don't get all the complaints about durability though.
I've had mine for about a year without any issues.

Someone who spends all their tism tokens on controllers should at least know about the saturn d-pad.

They generally look and feel good, and if you're using them wired, you're golden. This might have changed, but a few years ago the one I got had extreme latency problems wirelessly no matter what I paired it with. Those problems appear to have been resolved but I'm still personally reluctant to sink $40 again until I know for sure.

Yeah, the adaptor lets one controller sync up as xinput, or multiple controllers hook up as dinput. The firmware update lets you change the button placement to simulate the xbox style layout. I think the dpad and extreme battery life are top notch, and it feels good to hold the controller. Best modern style controller imo

I haven't used the snes one. But I've used the FC30 classic and pro. Both were cheap shit, the pro much more so. Cheap quality but not price. They're $5 chinkshit controllers with $45 in hipster eye candy.
